This is the perfect cottage -- it's remarkably spacious for a small house -- for those who want to be in the country but not far from stores and highways. The renovated home was precisely as the owners described it, and I would certainly recommend it to friends. It's designed beautifully and cleverly and definitely with adults in mind. What my friend and I enjoyed most was sitting on the lovely deck and looking at the mountain and the genuinely cleverly laid out rock and boulders on the owners' . Luckily, we saw no bears, but we saw plenty of deer and other friendly creatures. We really enjoyed exploring the nearby towns, especially Saugerties and Phoenicia. We also recommend driving up to the Ashoken Reservoir, which is breathtaking. We went to Kingston twice, once to admire the spruced up waterfront and once to wander around the historic Stockade area. Even though the weather was not uniformly wonderful, we had a great time every single day without having to try very hard to do so. By the way, the owners respond immediately to any e-mail query. We were quite impressed, in fact, by the whole experience and are thinking about how pleasant might be a long weekend in the autumn when we might enjoy not just the deck and the gorgeous foliage, but also cozy nights by the fireside.
