Cozy, welcoming and warm

5 of 5
Cheryl and Doug's studio was the absolute perfect home base for a long weekend getaway to do some cross country skiing at Lapland. We arrived on a snowy evening and Doug was generous enough to take time away from his other work to plow the driveway for us! The studio is VERY large and spacious! The king bed is unbelievably comfortable - I slept like a rock! - and the couch and love seat were a great place to relax and kick our feet up at the end of a great day of XC Skiing. The weather reached about -6 while we were visiting the area, but the studio was warm and toasty the entire time. The charming gas fireplace kept things cozy and added to the great ambiance. To top it all off - I forgot my phone charger in the studio the day we checked out and Cheryl was kind enough to call me and arrange to have it shipped back to me! What a thoughtful and generous gesture! We would definitely recommend someone to stay in the studio!

Harlem Hideaway Was Uberfab!

5 of 5
We loved our time in Harlem and staying at the Harlem Hideaway helped make that so. Dennis was an ever gracious host suggesting many local eateries and attractions, which we enjoyed. We highly recommend that folks visit the Studio Museum of Harlem, which we found more interesting than MOMA. We relished all the exhibits, but especially Kianja Strobert - Of This Day In Time. Go see it if you can. (http://www.studiomuseum.org/exhibition/kianja-strobert-day-in-time) And it was so close to everything! Including a subway stop that made it easy to jump downtown or to get to Penn Station. The room was exactly as described and spotlessly clean. The bed, pillows and linens were extremely comfortable. Dennis has a great flair for design, which is enviable. We were able to stash our luggage after check-out time, which was deeply appreciated as well as the use of huge umbrellas during the monsoon rain on the last day of our stay. We are already telling our friends about the place and can't wait to go back!

Loved it! Gonna miss it!

5 of 5
We absolutely loved this place. It was our first time using VRBO and I can't express how happy we were to go the non hotel route for our very first trip to NYC. And we'll probably do the same thing when we return. We've done a lot of traveling and this place made us feel at home. It was cozy, warm and comfortable to return to after a long day of sightseeing and walking. Personably I loved the neighborhood. It had lots of character and it close to subways which made it very convenient to get from A to Z. People were nice and helpful when asking about directions. Lots of restaurants to choose from as well, like Picante and Solace. It was safe and we felt safe. I would recommend this place for people who want to be in the chaos of NYC but RETURN to a calm, quiet and nice place to stay at and feel like you were in your own living room. Only thing To consider is the bed is a full. My spouse is 6'2 (and I'm 5'1) and us sleeping on a full was tight but a small price to pay for such an awesome stay. The owners are sweet and respond to your questions/concerns quickly... If there are any. We are gonna miss NYC. Thank you Philippe and Janine!
