Near to several shops and the subway!

5 of 5
Karen and Faruk, the hosts, were very nice and helpful. From the booking arrangements with changing of dates they were ok. The apartment location is very good as far as commerce and subway are concerned. But as it is at the same level and adjoint to a Long Island Expressway flyover, the noise of trucks and cars was quite audible from midnight to 6 AM despite the double glazing. Not for light sleepers. The building is very well kept with nice and helpful doormen. The parking space was also handy. The apartment and bedding were clean upon our arrival. A couple of towels missing upon arrival were quickly delivered after hosts were contacted. A few items at apartment already show signs of aging and would need a bit of mending and attention (e.g. cutlery drawer, balcony door lock, small sofa seat cushions, front door hard to open and close, cockroaches visits during the night). We had an overall very pleasant stay there. Would we be willing to return? Yes, for sure.

Great location, clean and inviting space

5 of 5
We were traveling to visit family with our infant son, and needed a way to be near our the family events and still accommodate baby's schedule. George's place in Astoria was perfect! The neighborhood was friendly and we felt very safe walking around, even at night. We were only two blocks away from the subway station. There were places to eat and buy groceries within an easy walk. I also found a good laundromat nearby. The apartment was clean and inviting. The kitchen had basic dishes and cookware, as well as practically brand new appliances. We found coffee and tea, and other kitchen basics such as paper towels and dish soap provided. The furniture in the living room was cozy and comfortable; easily fitting a group of four or five. The table seats four, and fit our hook-on high chair. The bedrooms were much larger than we expected, with plenty of floor space to set up the baby's pack and play. There was a good size closet with hangers, and a chest of drawers with plenty of room to unpack in each bedroom. The bedrooms had aircon units that kept us very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and functional. The shower had good water pressure. There were plenty of towels provided, including wonderfully large bath towels. George was friendly and helpful. He responded quickly when we called him to let him know we had arrived in town. He was also understanding about organizing key drop off around our baby's nap time. We would definitely stay with George again when the need arises!
