EXCELLENT VALUE: COMFY, SECURE, IN GOOD NABE.

4 of 5
Ample bedroom for one or a couple; large livingroom where six could visit; compact equipped kitchen; full bath; well-kept, secure garden apartment complex. Comfortably furnished, big cable tvs, wi-fi. Met our pretty high standards of cleanliness. Genial host extremely welcoming and eager to please, responds promptly if not always immediately. Space for guest clothes and travel items a bit tight among host/owner's possessions, but adequate. In a school nabe on a hill, safe, leafy, with spectacular homes nearby. Shops, park, 8-min walk. About 15-20 min walk to trains & transp. to Manhattan, but wonderful diversity of cultures and food in Queens itself, plus major sports arenas close to apt. This rental so much better than local hotel options. We stayed five days to visit Queens family and NY museums and would--no doubt will--return.

AMAZING

5 of 5
I used to live in New York and have stayed in this part of Queens before. This is where I would choose to live if I ever returned to New York City. It's a safe, vibrant neighborhood - very close to Manhattan via subway. The rental unit is nothing short of amazing. It is a clean, well furnished, well maintained apartment one short block from an express subway entrance. We (wife, 10 yr old, 12 yr old, and me) stayed a full week and paid considerably less than we would have paid for a cheap hotel room. We ate breakfast in the apartment every morning (walked two long blocks to 37th Avenue for fresh bagels at Foodtown - 3 / $1.00) then took the subway into the city (we bought a weekly pass for each of us). Coming back to the apartment at night was like coming home. Jason, the property manager, was the best I've encountered in 15 years of booking vacation rentals. To give one example - Jason knew we would be driving to New York, and we texted him as we got near. Jason got to the apartment early, then met us on the street as we turned into 76th Street. He helped us with our luggage after paying for the parking meter in front of the apartment. Then he drove with me to his truck where he had found a parking space for us (if you've ever kept a car in New York you will know what this means). Jason treats you like you are the most important guest he has ever had. I can't praise this unit highly enough. I have already recommended it to a colleague at work. We definitely plan to stay here on our next trip to New York.

GREAT LOCATION AND EASY

5 of 5
I just arrived home from NYC after a 4 night stay at Vasili's place on Steinway in Astoria. Everything represented on this site is accurate - nothing embellished. We had 6 people stay there and it was more than enough room. The location is ideal and I think we could had 10 people if necessary. We parked our car on a Friday and never moved it again until we departed - no tickets! 5 blocks from the N/Q train into Manhattan, steps away from retail, restaurants, a gym, Catholic Church, etc. Even running is great from this place, in a mile you're on the river path and in a park. SAFE, no worries at all with my family. When you walk up to the door initially, don't be disappointed - just walk in and give it a chance. It looks like nothing from the outside but the space is huge, clean, and easy to live in. There's even trees and birds that wake you up in the morning - quiet and central air makes it very comfortable. Dare I say peaceful in NYC? Free internet. Having a pie on the table and note from Vasili makes you feel at home as soon as you arrive. This is how every trip should feel. We will be back again before the end of the year and hopefully we can stay again at this location - awesome. Perfect and changed my mind about living/vacationing in NYC, especially Astoria. Who needs to spend tons in Manhattan? This is better and its easy to get anywhere. Thanks Vasili!
