We had a multi-generational family vacation in August. The house was just the right size for 9 of us: 6 adults, 1 child and 2 toddlers. We appreciated the grassy yard and the proximity of the beach. Also, the weather was perfect. We really enjoyed the outdoor picnic table, where we ate almost all of our meals. We liked the fact that we had a working grill with appropriate tools.
We spent a day in Burlington and enjoyed it. Part of our group spent a day in Plattsburgh, and we all really enjoyed our day at Ausable.
On the minus side, there are almost no closets, dressers, small tables or even wall hooks in the bedrooms. For a pretty modest amount of $$ the owners could remedy that, along with some extra dishes (not enough for 9, let alone 16), some hand and kitchen towels, better quality bath towels, some better cookware (some of the cookware was just awful -- scratched Teflon, warped pans, etc.). We think the experience would be improved with an information sheet that told us about markets and restaurants and house-related info. Were we supposed to use the washer? Were we allowed to use the various boats that were pulled up? How should we have separated the recyclables and how to dispose of them? These are all small things and not expensive, but would make life a little nicer.
We would rent this property again.
