Holiday on the lake!

5 of 5
It's always special when we have time at Doc's Place on the Lake. The location is perfect! It is only 35 minutes to Oak Mountain and great places to hike in Wells and Speculator. Plus your close to other towns like Gloversville, Johnstown and not to far from Lake George and Saratoga. The view is beautiful and there is plenty of wildlife even though it is near town. We sighted two beautiful bald headed eagles, they roosted on the big tree in the driveway and we got a few great photos of them. The kitchen is huge and we always make a holiday dinner, this year we forgot potatoes and Bill (the owner) was kind enough to help us out! The kids got their mashed potatoes after all. It was Christmas day and everything was closed. Thank you again, we always look forward to coming to your house on the lake!

Cozy Cottage Getaway

4 of 5
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Our group ranging in ages from 3 to 85 was challenging to accomodate but everyone was able to find their niche. Despite some rainy weather and very variable temperatures we were able to enjoy walking across the bridge into town and making s'mores over the fire pit. Big family dinners out on the porch were really enjoyable but dependent on how cold it was. The netflix was a big hit with the kids as was the comfortable family style seating in the living area. The adults enjoyed playing cards at the dining room table. There was an issue with scalding hot water when we first arrived, but the owners took care of it right away. I would caution others that the stairs are quite steep and a little precarious for the elderly and the neighborhood can be a bit noisy at night...especially on holiday week-ends.
