Home Away From Home

5 of 5
Our experience at Karen and Faruk"s apartment was exceptional! Since we traveled by car it was wonderful to be able to park our car in the parking garage for the week. Their apartment is a 2 minute walk to the subway, which was quite convenient. Faruk called us right away when we arrived to make sure we had everything we needed...thank you! Their apartment did have everything we needed from a stove, refrigerator and everything you need to prepare meals to a washer and dryer, which was great since we were there for a week. Our kids loved having their own bedroom and bathroom, which is wonderful especially when you've been traveling for days and staying in small, cramped hotel rooms. The doorman to the building was also very friendly and helpful with many suggestions of things to do and see! We would highly recommend this apartment and on our next trip to NYC we will definitely be staying here again!

Loved the Location! Good Value and Nice Apartment.

4 of 5
In 2/2014, we stayed here for 8 nights while attending a convention at the Javits & visiting NYC. Highly recommended. Apartment is small, but comfortable & old, but updated w/modern touches- a juxtaposition of old & new; nice ambiance. Location is AWESOME. 2 long blocks to Penn Station & E subway line (& A & C), an easy trip from JFK & easy to get all over Manhattan. We walked to Chelsea using the Highline & in the other direction, walked home at night from Times Square. Great view up 34th street to the Empire State Building. 1 big block to the Javits. Refrigerator is handy. Kitchen is rough around the edges, but stocked with the equipment you might need, & extras like spices, tea, etc. New York water tastes great! Showerhead was high; my husband LOVED taking a shower without ducking. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash & a hair dryer in stock and PLENTY of thick towels. I like the wi-fi & the TV is on an antenna so no guide or idea what channels are what if you’re from out of the area. Bring slippers. The floors are hardwood or something like that & I’m funny about floors, I don’t like my feet getting dirty so I lived in socks. It was freezing in Feb & the building has a funny heater that you can’t really turn off. In the bedroom you can turn the handle a hundred times until it is “off”, but it still heats & the living room stays on. Kitchen & bath have heating pipes through the floor & ceiling, so stays warm in there. We’re always hot & it was warm for us; when we got in at night, we’d crack the window to make it comfortable. The bed was comfy. Mattress pad sort of moves but otherwise, liked bed & bedding & slept well. It can be loud on the street. Even with the window open, I slept through the noise. Probably from sightseeing exhaustion, but it didn’t bother me & I’m a light sleeper! Overall easy transaction. Appreciate Kevin’s requiring minimal deposit to hold the reservation –scary when someone you don’t know wants a big deposit. Kevin met us at the apartment at the appointed time, explained how everything worked & was friendly. We had no problems & no reason to contact him again. The location is clean & neat & the building has a 24 hour doorman. I never felt unsafe. Recommend Sergimmo Salumeria for excellent meats, cheeses, & olives as well as huge & tasty portions of pasta, around the corner on 9th. Also, a couple blocks away, Best Bagel & coffee has great New York bagels. Highline Park is about 2 or 3 blocks.

Wonderful, historic Brownstone

5 of 5
A friend of mine and I stayed at this Brownstone apartment for 8 nights in August of 2014. It is a really lovely place to stay. The apartment is really nice, quiet, beautifully decorated and I loved the jetted tub. There are wonderful restaurants within a block or two of this address. Seraghina's is a really cool, eclectic place to have fabulous pizza - Sundays are pizza night they say and Peaches is right down the block. There is a pretty large grocery store about a block away too. When you exit the apartment turn left, walk one block to Marcus Garvey and turn left. The laundromat is on the other corner. The smaller corner grocery stores are fun to vist as well. The subway is about two blocks away and Manhatten is easy to access in this manner. We bought the subway card for 7 days and used the subway exclusively. It is about 25 minutes to Times Square. I'll be staying here often. I reallly enjoyed this stay.
