Loved the Location! Good Value and Nice Apartment.

In 2/2014, we stayed here for 8 nights while attending a convention at the Javits & visiting NYC. Highly recommended. Apartment is small, but comfortable & old, but updated w/modern touches- a juxtaposition of old & new; nice ambiance. Location is AWESOME. 2 long blocks to Penn Station & E subway line (& A & C), an easy trip from JFK & easy to get all over Manhattan. We walked to Chelsea using the Highline & in the other direction, walked home at night from Times Square. Great view up 34th street to the Empire State Building. 1 big block to the Javits. Refrigerator is handy. Kitchen is rough around the edges, but stocked with the equipment you might need, & extras like spices, tea, etc. New York water tastes great! Showerhead was high; my husband LOVED taking a shower without ducking. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash & a hair dryer in stock and PLENTY of thick towels. I like the wi-fi & the TV is on an antenna so no guide or idea what channels are what if you’re from out of the area. Bring slippers. The floors are hardwood or something like that & I’m funny about floors, I don’t like my feet getting dirty so I lived in socks. It was freezing in Feb & the building has a funny heater that you can’t really turn off. In the bedroom you can turn the handle a hundred times until it is “off”, but it still heats & the living room stays on. Kitchen & bath have heating pipes through the floor & ceiling, so stays warm in there. We’re always hot & it was warm for us; when we got in at night, we’d crack the window to make it comfortable. The bed was comfy. Mattress pad sort of moves but otherwise, liked bed & bedding & slept well. It can be loud on the street. Even with the window open, I slept through the noise. Probably from sightseeing exhaustion, but it didn’t bother me & I’m a light sleeper! Overall easy transaction. Appreciate Kevin’s requiring minimal deposit to hold the reservation –scary when someone you don’t know wants a big deposit. Kevin met us at the apartment at the appointed time, explained how everything worked & was friendly. We had no problems & no reason to contact him again. The location is clean & neat & the building has a 24 hour doorman. I never felt unsafe. Recommend Sergimmo Salumeria for excellent meats, cheeses, & olives as well as huge & tasty portions of pasta, around the corner on 9th. Also, a couple blocks away, Best Bagel & coffee has great New York bagels. Highline Park is about 2 or 3 blocks.

Excellent location, clean apartment, great host!

Pictures of the apartment are exactly what you get. Great host to start with. Before booking, responses were immediate. After booking and prior to arrival -again all my questions answered straight away. Our host Eric was fantastic! (and patient!) With cancellation and problems with our flights, our arrival to the apartment was so simple and easy -met Eric the next day and received great advice!. My sister and I had no plans so Eric gave advice on what we would enjoy -for example, going to Central Park on Sunday, late afternoon, and watch the skating -sounded funny to us but was so impressed and glad to hear about it that we went again the following Sunday!! Apartment was great -everything is there. For travellers (and especially females) it was so handy that the apartment had an iron & ironing board for our shirts & dresses. Great wardrobe space to hang as well. Simple things we required were all there (Eric's hair dryer was better than ours!) All you need in a kitchen (from toaster & microwaive to can & bottle opener) is also available and pretty new. Air Con worked really well for our summer stay, TV and WIFI was also very handy for us. Bathroom was simple and nice -liked the extra lights round the mirror -that helped for us females. Also lucky there was extra mirrors -on the bathroom door, full mirror in lounge wall and another in the kitchen! Handy when everyone gets ready the same time!! Bed was comfortable & couch as well is so comfortable -shopping for 9-10 hours -rested on that couch and just slept so long!! Location was perfect- the train station is only 2 avenue/blocks away. Macy's was less than 10 minute walk and Time square was also walking distance for us -round 15 minutes. McDonalds across the road -supermarket round the corner 5-7 minute walk, restaurants also just 5-10 minute walk along 9th ave. Thank you Eric- great adviser, always made sure we were OK, and just a nice guy!
