Staying in NY for the Marathon

4 of 5
I ran the New York Marathon and wanted to stay in close proximity to Central Park for easy access to the apartment after the run. It was a little further then I had anticipated because the run finishes at the south end of the park but we were close enough to the subway for quick access to transportation. When we arrived, we called Michael to let him know we were at LaGuardia and would be there as soon as possible. When we arrived the doorman greeted us and knew that we were to meet Mike upstairs. He handed us the key to the apartment and we went upstairs. Mike met us there a couple minutes later. The apartment was nicely lit and he told us what we needed to know and left. We appreciated that he told us if we needed anything he was only floors up away from us and to feel free to contact him if we needed anything. The Master Bedroom is very spacious and although the main bathroom is attached to the Master Bedroom, it was extremely handy to have the half bath. It was only myself, my husband and his sister, but having the extra bathroom made all the difference in the world. As it worked out, we didn't need to ask Mike anything and were able to navigate ourselves around the city without issue. The one thing that was odd is when we would tell the cab drivers our location they were extremely puzzled as to our location...after the marathon when I could barely walk, we got in a cab, told the driver our exact location and he proceeded to tell us it was an impossible address....then when we told him the side street address he knew where to drop us any rate, we didn't want to get in an argument with him as it was nearly impossible to find a cab after the marathon. The apartment is as noted and we really enjoyed it. I would say just as a means of constructive criticism is that it would be nice to have some basic amenities like salt, pepper, sugar and even coffee in the apartment. There are local markets nearby but we arrived late so it would be nice to have had those things as we didn't want to have to buy salt, pepper and sugar when you can hardly buy those in small quantities. The other thing that was missing was face cloths, there were plenty of towels but no face cloths...otherwise, the place was as we expected....Thank you Michael and Jennifer.....Vernon, BC Canada

Perfect for a family or group - great location.

4 of 5
Pros: Perfect for up to six people. Comfortable beds and useable kitchen. Great access to subways and grocery stores. Responsive property managers. Residential building that is mostly quiet (noise from a party did not bother us). Cons: Needs updating (old rugs; two bedrooms have folding doors, which do not fully close). Expensive, but so is everything in NYC. Go for it -- you'll enjoy it!

Sanctuary Guest Suites - NYC was AMAZING!

5 of 5
Our stay at the Sanctuary Guest Suites - NYC was amazing! Mario was attentive to all of our needs, from booking the room and having our initial questions answered, to making sure our all needs were met during our stay. Juile - provided us with the kindest and most informative greeting we have ever received when checking into lodging. She went above and beyond our expectations when helping us find information for our explorations in NYC. The room was spotless and well-appointed in modern decor. The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals in, with clean, modern appliances. A true amenity! The weather was a bit cold during our stay, but the room also has a small outdoor deck with table, a rare find in the big city! I definitely plan to stay here again on my next trip to NYC!
