Exceeded out expectations!

5 of 5
Neighborhood, building, apartment were superb. Many thoughtful items included such as umbrellas, bathrobes, guidebooks, toiletries. "User manual" very helpful.

Our NYC "home"

5 of 5
We had the most wonderful time in the City--I hadn't been back since 2001 and my sister not since the 70's. Almost overnight, the Hideaway garden apartment became our home in the City, not some generic hotel room or someone's space in their apartment. I would never have even considered Harlem in the past; now Harlem is top of the list for us. We felt very secure in the apartment, on the streets and in the subway. Dennis lives upstairs and was always available to us, but never intrusive in any way, gave us an excellent orientation and a box full of "sightseer" info and maps. The renovated brownstone was so well done--the last word in mod cons, but with so much character left from 1903, say. I don't know how our experience could have been improved. We will be returning the NYC next year and have booked the "garden" for next years' dates. Thank you, Dennis. PS--don't miss the Harlem Shake--best chili ever!

Great location

4 of 5
This large apartment is ideally situated for a New York break, being just a short walk away from Times Square and the many restaurants in Hell's Kitchen. Spacious and light, it looks out onto communal gardens. It has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a double sofa bed in the lounge area. The kitchen has been fitted to a high standard, and the oven was easy to use. Lots of books and tourist info are provided to help plan excursions. There was a good-sized table to eat at, and a desk with swivle chair for writing. Free wi-fi and a flat screen tv were good additions. Despite its position, the apartment was amazingly quiet-we only heard the chatter from restaurants nearby at night time, and it never went on until late. Our only negative was the bathroom which is very tired, and in need of updating. Also, we would have liked the owner to actually introduce themselves and check on how we were during the week. We met a number of people in the lobby, but never knew which one of them was actually the owner.
