A private oasis in the heart of Greenport

5 of 5
This beautifully appointed property is comfortable, private and within close walking distance of Greenport's best restaurants as well as Mitchell Park, the marina and the Shelter Island Ferry. A grocery store and several independent farm stands are also around the corner from the house, which is situated behind the library in historic Greenport. Isabel, our host, was warm and extremely accommodating. She was generous with information about Greenport and the surrounding area, but did not infringe on our privacy whatsoever. Upon arrival we were greeted with a welcome basket containing breakfast pastries, coffee and a map. Although my boyfriend and I rented the house on our own, there is more than enough space to comfortably accommodate another couple. The outdoor space is ample and lends itself to al fresco dining and lounging in the yard or under the shade of the gazebo. A combination of beautifully preserved tin walls and ceilings in the living room and an overall aesthetic that pays homage to the town's waterfront location makes for a perfect retreat. I can't wait to stay again!

better than expected

5 of 5
The home will keep you from wanting to leave. We had an extended girls weekend and our party size was 9 women in total. We wanted to go wine tasting and enjoy the beach. We planned to go out to the great restaurants in the North Fork. I rented this home because of its proximity to everything we planned to do. Instead because of the amazing kitchen which is outfited with every appliance, pot, pan, etc....you can think of, we ended up skipping going out to dinner and we cooked every night. The backyard has a great set up of a fire pit with one table near the grill and another table on a patio. We used the grill one night and enjoyed drinking wine while we had a fire going in the fire pit. The house is very clean but what you can't tell from the pictures is the great quality of the house and the furnishings. The beds were super comfortable, including the bunk beds in the rec room, which became a favorite room for our party as the room stays quite dark with the lights turned off which helps when you've had too much wine the night before. The sheets and comforters, along with the towels were also really good quality and felt and smelled very clean. The bathrooms are really nice as well with the master shower having every type of jet and feature possible. The house has almost everything you can think of except hand soap which was rectified by us with a quick trip to the nearby grocery store (only 2 miles way from the house). Everyone agreed the house was amazing and all in all we had a great weekend largely due to this awesome house. We would definitely rent this home again and I highly recommend the home to anyone thinking about renting it. Also just a quick note about Andrew, he was very easy to work with and very responsive both before, during, and after our use of the home. If we needed anything he really was just a phone call away but he made sure to let us enjoy the home without any intereference. Again, this home is great and worth renting!

A warm and inviting home

4 of 5
Although we enjoyed our stay, we were disappointed in the comfort of the beds. Also, towels were not satisfactory. When using the washer/dryer, we found that the towels and bedding were left in the dryer. I did call the housekeeper to see if there was an iron available as we had come in for a family wedding. She did not return my call. We really enjoyed the view and ocean breezes. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks again.
