Schoolhouse bliss

5 of 5
A really lovely property, tastefully decorated and furnished, fully equipped. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area, and the garden is great for just relaxing at the end of a long day. I can't recommend this property enough, you will not be disappointed.

Perfect location, charming house, great kitchen!

5 of 5
We stayed here for a family vacation, five adults and three kids ranging from 2.5 to 9. The house had the perfect amount of space for the kids to run around and play while the adults visited. We never felt cramped. The backyard is spacious and has an awesome swing that the younger kids loved. The beach was so close my 2.5 year old could walk there without needing to be picked up or carried in the stroller. She loved the playground next to the beach too. The house came stocked with games and toys the whole family enjoyed and I was so glad to discover plastic dishes and cups for the kids. It was also a nice change to stay at a beach house with such a well equipped kitchen. Usually beach houses have dull knives, cheap pots and pans, and a random assortment of odd accessories. This house had All Clad and Wusthof. It was such a pleasure to cook! The owner was very friendly and offered great recommendations for restaurants and farm stands. I would definitely stay here again!

Not Your Typical Rental House

5 of 5
Nancy and Kyle's Mattituck rental feels anything but. As beautiful as the home looks in the photos, it's even better in person and truly makes you feel as if you're staying in your own expertly-designed and supremely comfortable home. The house is in near-perfect condition, all the appliances are new and full-size, and there are even heated floors in the bathroom. The bedrooms are large enough, comfortable and quiet, and the house's central AC is a real bonus on sticky summer nights. There's also a massive outdoor shower, great grill, huge backyard with a hammock and a total of three eating areas downstairs. We hosted a dinner party for 10 (which is the maximum allowable amount of guests) and were extremely comfortable. Everyone - including several local homeowners - raved about the house. The location is a double-edged sword. It's located within a short walk from the town of Mattituck and the LIRR station which is great, but it's also on a back road that's directly between 25 and 48 (the two main roads for those not familiar) and the car noise is pretty constant during the day. That said, we couldn't have cared less about it after five minutes and it's still super-close to beaches as well. Also, this is the perfect house for those without a car which sets it apart from it's competition. The car noise would really only matter if you wanted to nap in the backyard all day, and even then it becomes white noise very quickly. Overall, the house was inarguably the nicest rental we've ever stayed in and Nancy and Kyle are excellent, responsive hosts. The North Fork has some absurdly overpriced rentals that have nothing going for them but their locations, while this home is exactly the opposite. It may not be on the water, but both the Bay and the Sound are mere minutes away. We have already recommended the house to friends and will certainly be staying there again.
