A perfect place to rejuvenate!

5 of 5
This is the second time we have been to the cottage. Once more, it was the greatest break I could expect from stress. At only 109 miles from NYC, we have everything we can dream of and do not have in Biggle Apple: peace, free of noise and dust, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings all around! I just missed the deer we saw in 2011! The cottage is ravishing, has everything we needed and has this large corral where my 2 little Pomeranians were literately jumping of joy (like rabbits do when they run)! They both recognized the place right away and were so frantic that they made me regret to have to come back after only 3 days..... We spent our time relaxing and basking in the sun on the porch and drove a little bit in the catskills where the scenery is absolutely stunning! It was perfect. Also the owner kindly replied right away to text messages and calls we sent for details. This location is a piece of jewelry indeed!

wonderful weekend getaway

Yearning for a much needed break from New York City, my boyfriend and I spent a few hours searching for a secluded cabin in the woods located somewhere in New England. We envisioned having a large chunk of land to ourselves to explore, and a body of water to swim in. We finally stumbled upon this house, and everything in the pictures proved to be to our liking. We decided to take a chance. The drive from the city was short and sweet; we got lost at the very end trying to find the entrance to the property, which is pretty hidden. The cabin faces the owner's house, so unfortunately when you decide to grill or sit by the fire, you're not alone. That said, the owner is very sweet and helpful, full of advice and recommendations. However, if you come here, you most likely won't be spending much time indoors - there's so much to see and do on the vast property. There are blueberry fields, lovely open spaces to have a picnic on, and a pond that has some interesting wildlife (toads and turtles might surprise you as you row around in the boat.) The property also has a river, but we didn't manage to find a path leading down to it (something worth asking the owner for...) At night, the owner helped us build a fire, and we sat there feeding it for a while, enjoying the shockingly bug-free night (but bring bug spray for the day-time.) In terms of groceries, we drove to the local ShopRite about 15 minutes away, and were happy with the food selection. But bringing along a cooler or two filled with food/drinks from home isn't a bad idea either. The house is small, but the attic where we slept is spacious and clean. Overall, we had a memorable time and would definitely not mind coming back one day. Recommended for those seeking some privacy and everything nature has to offer.
