Great cottage right off of Lake George!

4 of 5
My wife, two year old son, and I stayed at this cabin for three nights in October 2014. We had a great stay, and recommend it if you want great views, and want to stay in a centrally located but quiet area. The location of this cottage was perfect. about 1 mile past the touristy area of Lake George Village (maybe 5 minutes when you get off the NY Thruway). Situated on a steep hill right off of the lake, with no trees or houses obstructing the view. It was perfect. When we weren't out sightseeing, we were on the deck looking out at the lake and mountains on the other side. There is a fire pit right on the edge of the property looking out over the lake, too. A long staircase leads to a small "beach" area and boat dock. We spent only a little time here just to explore, since it was too cold to swim and we didn't have a boat. But there is another fire pit down here and a picnic area for more great views. The house is small considering it has 6 beds (enough for 8 people) between 4 bedrooms. There were only 3 of us so the space was more than enough, but would be cramped if you were going to have more than 4 or 5 people stay. The house was relatively clean, but a little aged. The appliances are pretty old and may need to updated. The washer was broken and we didn't know about it until we got there. A minor inconvenience. Just a heads up for people with small children, the house and yard isn't the most child friendly place in the world. In order to have a fantastic view, the house and deck are above a very steep hill, and the deck had wire railing instead of wood. This made us very nervous that our son could slip through, and it wasn't a short fall. The north side of the yard was level and safe to play on, but all other areas were off limits. Even though we always keep a close eye on our adventurous child, we had to be especially cautious on the property. Bolton Landing was an awesome little town and only about a 5-10 minute car ride. We were here during the low season so we did not get to enjoy the beaches or a lot of the stores and restaurants since they were closed for the season. If you stay at this cabin expect awesome views and a great location.

Great quaint yet modern cabin!

4 of 5
Once we pulled up the kids were in awe! We stayed in mid-July. We stayed in Cabin 2. It was my husband, sister, and her 3 kids- 13,11, and 8. The kids had a ball. We made big bon fires nightly and the pool was great. Overall, very clean and accomodating. We brought our 2 small dogs as well. Next time we will definitely book 2 cabins, but the one we stayed in fit us just right. We slept in the room with the queen size bed. My sister and her son slept in the room with the 2 twin beds, and the little ones slept on the big futon in the living room. When we arrived there were brochures and travel guides awating us, along with a nice letter from the grounds keeper/ property manager. There was free wifi and cable and all worked well. We were 5 minutes from town and provisions, and 20 minutes away from Lake Geroge Vilage, where we spent 2 of the 4 afternoons. At night we BBQed and roasted marshmallows. Definitely will stay again! The only negative was that the rooms had a strong musky smell. Also, when we arrived our bbq wasnt working well. But once brought to the property manager's attention he went out and bought us a new one the next day!
