Perfect Depending on Your Needs

4 of 5
We rented this property for a Family Reunion at Niagara Falls. The property was perfect for us, just 45 minutes or so from the Falls and a little over an hour from Old Fort Niagara. The most breathtaking aspect of this property is the location on the eastern shore of Lake Erie, meaning every night we had a beautiful sunset out over the water. Even the couple nights where inclement weather rolled in, being able to sit down at the beach and watch the thunderstorm roll across the lake in our direction was a treat. The beach area is incredibly private and very spacious for most family needs. We had a large bonfire down by the water one clear night and the beach is loaded with drift wood and other debris that was able to easily keep a relatively large fire going for hours and hours, as well as unlimited amounts of smooth lake stones on the shore. The kids loved playing in the water and for the older kids and adults, the beach is rough and painful rock for the first 10-15 feet out into the water, which then gives way to pure slab rock (slippery with algae, but not course or rough), followed by soft sand. And you can walk out into the water quite a bit without much of an issue. Easily a good 100 feet or so. Water temps were nice this time of year, even when the air was chilly. The property itself is just what it says it is. An old farm house that has been renovated and updated with a lot of upgrades. Kitchen was more than adequate for our needs, dining room was nice for dinner, and the living room was a nice place to relax with a large couch perfect for afternoon naps. Now for the negatives. WIFI is terrible. Had to literally reset the box every 15-20 minutes which made using it beyond frustrating. The TV in the Master bedroom is non-functional with no Direct TV, leaving just one option in the living room downstairs. Half the windows are lacking screens, which means opening the windows at night to hear the ocean like waves crashing meant droves of bugs in the room each night/morning. The sliding glass door lacks blinds, which can create an uneasy feeling as the room can easily be seen from the grounds at night. The property is situated on a bluff about 30 feet straight down to the water, so be careful with kids near the edge. None of the bathrooms or bedrooms have locking doors so the downstairs bathroom was unusable with small kids running around. Finally, the outside of the property is covered in massive spiders, but it is a lake house.
