          BEAUTIFUL GET AWAY!

          5 of 5
John and Caroline were gracious hosts who welcomed us into their gorgeous guest studio for the weekend. The place was spotless, with coffee and their own maple syrup as a welcome gift, and they made sure we were comfortable and oriented before leaving us to settle in. It was still very much winter during our stay, and John was so nice to loan us snow shoes and print off a few options for some really gorgeous hiking in the area. We were just there for two days as an escape from NYC, and I can easily see myself visiting again in the fall. The wood burning furnace in the pictures is reason enough to visit in the winter. Overall, I can't say enough good things about John and Caroline's studio and the beautiful surroundings!

ADIRONDACK GETAWAY IN CHARMING RUSTIC CABIN

          4 of 5
My husband, two children and I vacationed for a week in this lovely cabin in the southern Adirondacks during the peak fall foilage season of 2009. This cabin is a wonderful getaway for small families and/or friends. Rustic, but not too rustic with propane fueled lanterns, hot water and even a refrigeration system. We were surprise attacked by cooler temperatures than expected, but the wood-burner kept things snug and warm for our nightly round of family charades, puzzles and general relaxation. The owners are very unobtrusive and give you carte blanche on the property while you are there with guest books outlining good leads on excursions and secret spots you might not otherwise hear about. Our number one recommendation is the Adirondack Museum, which is described as the Smithsonian of the Adirondack's and does not disappoint. Thank you for a great family getaway in a clean, quiet and lovely environment. The only reason I didn't rate this "excellent, five stars" was because the weather was quite bad the entire time, which obviously has nothing to do with the cabin and it's comforts and cannot be helped.
