Traveling with elderly parents (oxygen, wheelchair scooter) to the Hudson River area was a joy while staying at this apartment. It was obviously very meticulously renovated. The apartment is as described- quite large, very clean, very tastefully decorated. We were able to explore the area. We travelled as far south as Peekskill (all the mansions and West Point) and travelled over the bridge to Hudson and to Olana (home of Frederick Church). The highlight was a visit to OPUS 40- a outdoor sculpture park near Saugurties. We took a Hudson River cruise from Kingston and walked across the Hudson near Poughkeepsie. Athens has some wonderful old architecture that is being restored.
All in all a wonderful retreat. The food and beer at CrossRoad Brewery was fantastic but our night dining at the StewartHouse was supreme- we felt we were in a Frederick Church painting- it was so beautiful. What a wonderful memory to share with my parents.
