Weekend Home Away From Home

5 of 5
We were scheduled to attend a wedding on this weekend and so we looked for a place to stay in the area. As part of the rehearsal dinner we were responsible for supplying the wedding soup, so we looked for a place with a good kitchen. As things turned out, we did not require the use of the kitchen, but if we had, this certainly would have been a good choice. The place has a huge kitchen area complete with full 4 burner electric stove and oven. There is also a very large refrigerator, a dishwasher, a small microwave, and toaster. When we first arrived, the power seemed to be out in one corner of the kitchen, but it turned out that someone must have tripped the GFI circuit. I pushed the reset button on the outlet next to the toaster and everything worked after that. The place was well stocked with dishes, bowls, and utensils. There were some dishes in the dish washer. I'm not sure if they were dirty or clean dishes left over from the last time the dishwasher was run, but we never needed them since there were plenty of other dishes. We did not see any dishwasher soap, so we just hand washed our own. There is also a washer and dryer available. Overall, the rental was very clean and well maintained. The overall decor was somewhat "artsy". One of the bedrooms has clear glass doors. It would have been nice to have curtains or blinds for a little more privacy when desired. In the bathroom there was some sort of a "Valet Steamer" gadget which we used to remove the wrinkles from our clothing. It worked very well. We had been maintaining email correspondence with the property managers previous to the visit and found them to be very responsive and helpful. If you are planning a stay in the area this would be a really good place to call your home away from home. Also there is a pretty good brewery just about a mile down the road. This is a really nice place for the price and a great place to launch local excursions from. It’s only a few miles from historical homes of Thomas Cole and Frederick Church, two historically famous “Hudson River” artists. A definite recommend.

Peaceul! Beautiful! Welcoming!

5 of 5
I have two regrets about renting this property and writing this review! One: that it took me almost 6 months to get to this and, two, that now that I've written my review the property will no longer be my little secret. We are Bard College parents (divorced but great friends) who rented the two bedroom cottage for our freshman's parents weekend this past fall. Absolutely perfect! There are so few decent and not outrageously costly accommodations in the Rhinebeck/Kingston area and this was just perfect. About a 15-20 minute drive from campus. The house has everything you need: comfy beds, snacks, dining area, well equipped kitchen. And nice “product” (bath and kitchen soaps, etc.). Also the interior design is tasteful, contemporary and just beautiful. Plus: dimmers on every light switch, I love this! There is an organic farm right down at the road (you can walk there). We bought beautiful produce, eggs, cheese, and bread and made a real breakfast for our son on Sunday morning. We read and talked and just relaxed when we weren’t running around at Bard. Do not expect TV or Wi-Fi, there isn’t any. Bust honestly everybody needs to unplug once in a while. There is an iHome which worked great. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the pool looks very, very inviting. I’m planning to return for a nice weekend, having nothing to do with college students. The owners provided everything we needed and we knew how to reach them at all times but three was absolutely no intrusiveness on their part what-so-ever. Rent this property! Just let me have first dibs!

Great stay on the Hudson

5 of 5
Spectacular views with unobstructed view of the Hudson. Nice to sit out on terrace for summer breakfast. Sarah was always smiling and helpful and attentive to what we needed. Comfortable for two people, maybe three with extra bed in alcove. We suggested a dining table but none of us could figure out where to put it. We were visiting new grandchild in a nearby town and it worked out perfectly. All communications with Sarah were pleasant and she accommodated all requests promptly. We will return when visiting family. Easy on street parking. Need a car since not much around. Bike path nearby a plus but we had our own bikes. Path to apartment from the street would be tricky in the winter.
