A well-priced, well-appointed stay in NYC

4 of 5
My first time in NYC with my mom and aunt, with this unit we each got to have a bedroom all to ourselves and didn't have to share one bathroom. Since my aunt has bad knees the fact that she could stay right on the first floor was a major plus for her. The kitchen is definitely quite nice with a stainless steel fridge, microwave, dishwasher, etc.The lower bathroom was surprisingly large, and seemed wheelchair friendly should you need it. Tae was also quite responsive to anything we needed. Don't let the fact that it's in Harlem scared you- it's not like what you've seen in the movies. I never felt unsafe. It's predominantly black and that's about it. Subway is about a 6 minute walk too That having been said, I do have a few complaints. The 2 upstairs bedrooms have to share a bathroom that's half the size of the bathroom that only has to be used by 1 bedroom. Seems a bit ass-backward. There's also no ventilation so it gets warm quite fast. Speaking of warm, it would also run out of hot water within 10-15 minutes, though the sink would still give piping hot water? Didn't make much sense. Because there are wood floors, any sounds made by the unit above us REEEEALLLLYYYYY carry. Was woken up by what sounded like jogging triceratops dropping bowling balls on the floor. The street-facing bedroom in the upper bedroom only has a razor-thin curtain over the window that is very easy to see through and made my mother a little uncomfortable. Why weren't blinds put on the windows? All in all it still fit our needs and if I was travelling in the same situation again I would likely stay here again, and hope that Tae would read this and make a few improvements. He seems like someone who would care enough to implement them.

Wonderful Experience

5 of 5
This place is the real deal. Upscale enough to be suitable for anyone, but in a real New York neighbourhood. We took the subway uptown to see the sights, which were great, and couldn't wait to get back to Harlem. Soho and The Village are just full of tourists and retailers. Harlem is still genuine. Local flavour, great restaurants, (recommended by Michael), and just a nice vibe. If I lived in Manhattan, this is where it would be. Would highly recommend.

Such an amazing experience in old Harlem!

5 of 5
Larry, the host, welcomed us to his house and made our stay in New York a pleasure! He was very accommodating and attentive to our requests. Without hesitation, my family and I would say, he was one of the most genuine and real people we have met. His house is located conveniently near the express A and D trains and local C and B trains, as well as the 1 train. It's a bit of a commute to Lower Manhattan (30-35 minutes) but we are more than happy with our choice -- a great price for renting an entire floor in a large and cozy historical building. The description of the house (i.e. layout and amenities) is completely accurate. But if you have any questions, you should feel free to approach Larry with any questions.
