We stayed here for 10 days during May. We booked the apartment after reading all the amazingly positive reviews for the place – and they were spot on. After staying the previous week on the East Side - in a more expensive apartment that was the size of a shoe box – to come here was a revelation. The apartment was spacious, spotlessly presented, the host’s attention to detail impressive and there were plenty of added extras including a full kitchen with all mod cons including a dishwasher, a coffee maker (with coffee), a large screen TV, free wi-fi and a private garden that all helped to make our stay relaxed and enjoyable.
The owner Don was friendly and the perfect host for we four newbies to New York – he provided us with all the information, directions and tips on what to see that we needed. When one of our party went down with a foot problem and had difficulty walking, Don was soon at the door with a walking stick and contact details for his own family doctor which were greatly appreciated.
The apartment is in a great location near the subway, cross town buses, supermarkets and historical sites such as Alexander Hamilton’s (George Washington’s aide-de-camp) home which is now a museum and well worth visiting. The apartment is also close to two great New York experiences - the famous Apollo Theatre (check out amateur night – its something else) and Yankee Stadium – go Yankees! Thanks to Don’s friendliness and generosity, and his beautifully presented apartment - staying here was a great New York experience in itself.
