A Charming Place

5 of 5
My daughter, her dog, and I enjoyed a long weekend at the Red House. One reason we chose it is the wifi access in a beautiful, rural location. My daughter had just taken the NY bar exam, and she wanted to get away from the City, while being able to submit job applications. We took long walks by the stream and down the road; we checked out the old houses and buildings in Hancock and talked to the locals. I loved sitting on the back porch reading and watching the raptors and other birds. We had a fine weekend. The icing on the cake was my daughter landing a job at one of the firms she applied to from the Red House.

Great place to slow down !!

5 of 5
This is the place to sit back and relax with family; no TV or internet but lots of games, classic records to play and DVD”S to watch. Shabby chic is the decor, letting you go back in time, seeing lots of childhood memories, especially for the over 50 set. A unique set-up of rooms, each of which functions as an entertainment center & also can sleep a number of persons. The kitchen is well equipped with most everything you need, along with a large dining room table. Winter heating is by wood that is supplied & keeps you very warm. Walking down by the Delaware is a great way to spend an afternoon. With 3 generations of family in the school house, we all had a great experience together.

Great Long Weekend

5 of 5
What a wonderful cottage on a great lake. My wife and I spent a long weekend here and have fallen in love with this lake and area. We were concerned about how many cottages would be on the lake and how close our neighbors would be to us. Well, the cottages are close together but it didn't seem that way. Our neighbors were very quiet and very friendly. The cottage was perfect for the two of us. It is VERY clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for cooking. The screened in patio is wonderful and we enjoyed cooking on the open grill. The weather was beautiful while we were there, yet the lake was never busy. We enjoyed the kayaks but did not take advantage of the canoe and row boats which we would have if we had a longer stay. The fishing was fantastic. From the dock in front of the house we caught many bass, yellow perch, and sunfish. If you are looking for a place where the fishing is great... this is it. We did a lot of driving in the evenings looking for wildlife. There is a dirt road on the other side of the lake that goes thru the mountains and valleys. The first night we were lucky to spot a black bear in the woods along that road... and we saw many deer in the open areas. Back at the cottage, we saw a bald eagle fly over the lake, and had hummingbirds feeding on plants along the lake. Thanks to Eric for sharing this lovely cottage with us... he is very pleasant and easy to work with.
