Since we are Dutch - as from across the ocean from the Netherlands - we loved the fact that we could actually rent a 'Dutch Colonial on Catskill Creek' in the Fall in New York State. And we are glad we did.
The pictures describe perfectly what we found, a luxurious, well equipped, and tremendously tastefully decorated old house on Catskill Creek.
The house was a blast for our two oldest sons, just running around, playing hide and seek. And even for the grown ups, there were rooms to relax in: the tv-room, 'smoke'-room with beautiful art, living room with a gas powered fire place and - we loved - the kitchen.
Also the surroundings were perfect. Plenty of rainfall in the summer resulted more in Catskill River instead of Catskill Creek. But that did not matter at all: it was more fun for the kids: Throwing branches and leaves in the creek and follow where they went (no clue...). The kids also had fun playing soccer in the big backyard and helping us with making a fire in the afternoon on the patio.
And still, this really could also be a very romantic spot, just for two.
The owner, Eric, was easy to deal with and very very helpful with providing information about the house, the region, recommendations on restaurants, groceries, museums. All good tips.
We would recommend this to anyone, Dutch or not, couples, families, anyone. Enjoy!
