Get away from it all in an idyllic country setting

      5 of 5
Wow! the 4 of us had the best little getaway ever! This house is true to its pictures and description. It had EVERYTHING one would need to sleep, cook, & start up the firepit! We made up a new game called Bocce around the property!!! The amount of land was plenty to play, hang out, and explore. The trees surrounding the area kept the place so tranquil and COOL! The firepit...what can we say except we practically didn't even need the house. We spent so much time around the campfire, cooked on it, played the guitar, sang, ate, and admired the stars. There were some ATV riding but it didn't bother us much. I even went for a run and the clean mountain air was amazing. We never believe when home descriptions say they have everything so we brought a lot of our own condiments and kitchen tools..but we really DIDN'T need to bring anything else! Paul had a nice note and a bottle of wine left for us. "The Bible" had everything you would need to get around and get anything you would need. This truly was an amazing time away and we did NOT want to leave! We plan on returning!!!

Romantic, fun, charming, relaxing - just perfect

      5 of 5
Since we are Dutch - as from across the ocean from the Netherlands - we loved the fact that we could actually rent a 'Dutch Colonial on Catskill Creek' in the Fall in New York State. And we are glad we did. The pictures describe perfectly what we found, a luxurious, well equipped, and tremendously tastefully decorated old house on Catskill Creek. The house was a blast for our two oldest sons, just running around, playing hide and seek. And even for the grown ups, there were rooms to relax in: the tv-room, 'smoke'-room with beautiful art, living room with a gas powered fire place and - we loved - the kitchen. Also the surroundings were perfect. Plenty of rainfall in the summer resulted more in Catskill River instead of Catskill Creek. But that did not matter at all: it was more fun for the kids: Throwing branches and leaves in the creek and follow where they went (no clue...). The kids also had fun playing soccer in the big backyard and helping us with making a fire in the afternoon on the patio. And still, this really could also be a very romantic spot, just for two. The owner, Eric, was easy to deal with and very very helpful with providing information about the house, the region, recommendations on restaurants, groceries, museums. All good tips. We would recommend this to anyone, Dutch or not, couples, families, anyone. Enjoy!
