I've traveled the world and stayed at some fabulous places. I'd rank Windrift Hall up near the top of my favorite places ever. The house was private, yet still close to downtown Hudson. There were 9 of us with only one car, but we were still able to easily get to and from Hudson via taxi service that was quick and convenient. Two of us drove our personal car to Windrift Hall and the other seven took the Amtrak train from Penn Station (New York); the train ride is only two hours (roundtrip train fare is around $75). The train arrives in the heart of the historic area of downtown Hudson. Cabs are well aware of the train arrival times so they're sitting there waiting to pick up passengers. The cab fare from the train station to the house is around $40.
Windrift Hall's kitchen is a delight for anyone who loves to cook and bake. The kitchen is camera ready for a magazine shoot. A Viking range and other great appliances (Viking refrigerator, dishwasher, KitchenAid mixer, etc.) make cooking and baking a delight in the house.
One of my friends is an accomplished pianist so we were able to enjoy hours of beautiful music he played on the stunning Steinway piano in the living room.
Other great amenities: Soaking tub in the upstairs bathroom, several working fireplaces throughout the house, an informal (kitchen) dining table as well as a formal (living) dining table, a Bose sound system, etc.
Assuming the owner's will allow us, we will definitely be back at Windrift Hall in the very near future!
