5 of 5
Obviously, three times renting, means we like it a lot! Quiet area, comfortable cottage, very nice owner, good fishing and golf. What else is there to say!

GREAT LAKE HOUSE

5 of 5
This lake house is perfect for a weekend getaway or a full week of fun in the Hudson Valley. It is convenient to everything. You can get to the Catskills or Albany all in less than an hour and we did both as well as explored the local towns. We were only there for a few days and we tried to fit in about a weeks worth of activities. The lake/pond is great for swimming, fishing and kayaking (the house has a great kayak that seats 2 adults or up to 3 kids. The deck is wonderful to sit out on and watch the sunset. The inside of the house has been completely redone and its done in a modern motif. White leather futon/couch and sling back chair, all modern fixtures, new flat screen and stereo in the living room and the bathroom is all done in stone , glass and charcoal tile. The loft upstairs will sleep up to 5 people and the 2 bedrooms downstairs have a king and a queen. The kitchen is also brand new and we made a great spaghetti dinner with fresh salad fixings from one of the local markets and every morning we made our own breakfasts with local eggs and local organic sausage and ham. We did quite a bit of exploring and though Hillsdale did have a nice little ice cream parlor and there were countless ice cream shacks, for something completely different check out LICK which has special flavors from a local dairy. http://www.lickhudson.com/ My wife had coconut/date ice cream and my daughter enjoyed her favorite, salted caramel with big pieces of caramel in it. On our last day we headed over to Bash Bish Falls which is about 20 minutes away. We parked and hiked up to the falls. My wife and I are far from in shape and though it took us a little while, we got to the falls in less than 45 minutes (its only a 3/4 mile hike but it is up hill. the path is rocky but not bad at all). If you are worried about the hike, don't be. We saw a family with 2 strollers that made it up to the top without any problems. The falls are beautiful to look at but on a hot day there are also plenty of places to put your feet into the water and cool off. the sign says no swimming but there were people splashing around all over the place and the rangers did not seem to mind as long as nobody got out of hand. All in all there is a multitude of things to do or you can just sit and enjoy the house and the lake and we highly recommend this house for any vacation.

PERFECT TECHNOLOGY FREE WINTER GETAWAY!

5 of 5
We stayed 3 nights at the Robinson Pond getaway, deciding to make it a "technology free stay" with no cell phones and no TV or internet. The house has TV and internet, but we didn't use these. It had snowed right before our arrival and a bit during our stay, so a nice deep quite had descended on the pond for which we were very grateful. Katherine was excellent with communication and a couple of documents were provided to us at booking. She sent an email with picture of the plowed driveway so we knew that we wouldn't have any problems parking. We had the upstairs unit (downstairs can be rented for an additional fee). The master bed was comfy. The kitchen was very well appointed (which we took advantage of for nearly every meal). Leather couches and a nice futon were used for lounging and reading and snuggling with our 6 month old baby boy. They had plenty of wood and kindling for their wood stove that is in the fireplace. During the last night of our stay, the entire community lost water due to a burst water main. I contacted the owners who then told me that they could bring over 5 gallon buckets of water so we could flush the toilets. Luckily we were about to go to sleep and we didn't need them to do this, but I thought that it was really nice that they were prepared to help us out anyway that they could. We are hoping to be able to get back to Robinson Pond to stay with them again during the summer so we can experience the water! My wife would love to take advantage of their canoes!
