This home played a huge part in making our wedding weekend a success. Our family from the Pacific Islands and our family from the 1000 Islands were all in awe at the views from the home. The history and style of this home is classic. It was a walk away from shops, restaurants, and local sights. It was spacious and slept us comfortably. It was clean, well maintained, and when we had questions, there was someone we could call that responded immediately. It was the perfect backdrop for our rehearsal dinner, for when I got ready for my wedding, and for the day after the wedding, the memories of the kids fishing are priceless. This was the perfect investment for our family's stay. This home was the gem of our destination wedding, and we enjoyed every minute.

        Great House, Great Location

        4 of 5
This was a wonderful place to stay for a week. It is accurately described as a beautifully renovated home. The house was spotless and well-maintained. It's in a great location, an easy walk to downtown Clayton, shops, restaurants, and the River. It has a lovely deck (with a bit of a view of the main channel of the River) with propane grill, and a nice kitchen. A few more comfortable outdoor chairs would be a welcome addition to the deck. When we arrived, neither the cable TV or the internet access worked. Phone calls to the rental office produced the desired results: TV was restored by the next day, and the internet service a day or so later. It was a minor annoyance, but handled well. For the weekend when we first arrived, we were 4 couples in town for a wedding, so all bedrooms were in use. On the second floor, that meant 6 people using one bathroom. Though there is plenty of unused wall space in the bathroom, there is only one towel rack, barely big enough for 2 towels, meaning everyone had to take their wet bath towels to their rooms, and there were no places to hang them in the rooms. We suggest more towel racks in the bathroom or else in the bedrooms. The other amenity that we missed was light to read by in the bedrooms (The living room could use some brighter light by the couches as well.) A high ceiling fixture in the middle of the room does not provide sufficient light for reading in bed, something my husband and I enjoy every night. We went out and purchased two flashlights to read by! The addition of towel bars in the upstairs bath and lights at either side of the beds, either wall-mounted or on a small night table (which would be a handy addition as well) would unquestionably make my rating 5-star. We found Clayton to be a charming town. We were there for a wedding on Grindstone Island, and that occupied our weekend, but Clayton is full of wonderful things that we enjoyed in the following days. Most special were the Antique Boat Museum and the Island Boat Tour around the River, stopping at Boldt Castle. Restaurants we enjoyed were Bella, the newly opened Johnston House, and The Koffee Kove for breakfast a number of times.
