beautiful

Beautiful and large property with lots of nature to explore. The cabin was extremely cozy and the owners were very pleasant to deal with. Will be returning.

Quiet, Informal, Beautiful Surroundings

5 of 5
Old but modernized, very comfortable farmhouse with completely modern kitchen and bathrooms (2). The main attraction is the surroundings--first of all the private river access, a short walk across fields. In early summer the river is cool, not cold, shallow enough for children but with deep spots, hot rocks to sun on, shaded bank area with picnic table. Visit the organic farm on the same property (between house and river). Though the house is just off the main road, it is usually quite--always at night, when you can sit on the porch and watch the moonrise over the ridge opposite. I have been here before for up to a month, stayed only a few days in 2014.

A wonderful place to stay for a weekend or longer

5 of 5
This was an excellent location for an extended stay--a month in my case. The house--dating from the mid-19th century--has been completely remodeled inside (though with some of the original 11-inch floorboarding kept). Kitchen, bathrooms (upstairs, downstairs) and bedrooms are completely modern. Comfortable country furniture. The chief value is location. The property extends behind the house down to the Neversink River, a wonderful place to wade (with small kids), swim, or just sun out. Part of the property is occupied by an organic farm with a very extensive local customer base. The nearby woods afford some hiking, Slide Mountain is a 12-mile drive for a real hike. There are local places for breakfast, lunch, takeout, or basic groceries; the organic farm provides natural foods. For a real shop, go to Liberty, 13 miles away. Nights are quiet (road traffic dies off after dark), cool, restful. This is a great place for a quiet country stay.
