We loved the location of this cottage. It sits at the end of a small lakefront road with a backyard that runs right up to a bulkhead on the lake. Next to the house is a small stream/canal that the mallards use to bring their babies out to the lake in the morning. There was a parking pad for two cars, which was convenient. Neither house close to us was occupied when we were there, but other folks in the neighborhood were quiet. The cottage was very clean, and there was plenty of room for the two of us, and 2 more single adults or kids if we had more in our party. The King size bed was very comfortable. The living room had lots of room for several people to stretch out on sofas or loungers, and the sunroom was a delight. It looked out on the lake. We appreciated having a washer and dryer and a strong WiFi signal. The shower had lots of hot water with good pressure. We also loved that Lakewood was a small, quiet and charming town, but we could drive 5 minutes down the road to Wegmans, pharmacies and all the usual stores. Jamestown was about 6 minutes away, the Chautauqua Institute about 15 minutes away, and Lake Erie was about 45 minutes.
The refrigerator and washer and dryer are a step down from the rest of the kitchen. Once we got used to this, it was not an issue. The bathroom and main bedroom were also a step down from the kitchen and the rest of the house. Again, not an issue once you got used to it, but something to note if your party includes someone with balance issues or problems with any steps. The kitchen had everything we needed, but I would have liked it if their were real glasses instead of a collection of plastic ones that don't match, and if the plates had not been a Christmas pattern. The mis-matched kitchenware and bath towels certainly provide an authentic flavor of visiting friends at their lake cottage.
We did not get a chance to use the firepit or the picnic table and grill on the lake, but they looked very inviting. The sunsets were spectacular.
