Wonderful retreat from the city

5 of 5
My partner and I stayed in this cabin for three nights and it was even better than we had expected. The owner was very kind, responsive, and helpful with all of the ins-and-outs of the cabin and the surrounding area. During our stay, we took advantage of the kayaks, the grill, and the hammock. There is also a fire pit, but we unfortunately didn't get a chance to use it. This is a semi-rustic cabin in that it has electricity, hot running water, and wi-fi, but not much insulation for very cold weather, no TV, and the tap water is not potable. The owner provided us with bottled water for drinking, which was a pleasant surprise since we had brought our own, and though it was a bit chilly at night, we didn't need to use the provided electric space heaters. (We were looking to get away and decompress, so we didn't miss having a TV. But if you do want to watch something, if you have a wi-fi compatible device, we found the wi-fi was strong enough in the cabin to stream media like Netflix or Hulu.) The sleeping loft was incredibly comfortable and warm. The views of the lake were spectacular. The kitchen was more fully stocked than I was anticipating: There is a microwave, hot plate, toaster oven, small fridge, and all the cookware you could possibly need. We cooked several meals in the cabin without a problem. There are lots of screened windows on the ground floor and up in the sleeping loft, which I would guess would keep the cabin cool in the warmer months. The location is perfect for visiting Ithaca and nearby Watkins Glen. We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. I only wish we had had more time. Since we visited in a somewhat chilly late summer/early fall, I'm now curious to return during the warmer months to be able to spend more time in and on the water. I would only not recommend this cabin for someone with severe mobility problems because there are many steps to get to the cabin from the parking area, a ladder to the sleeping loft, and many more steps around the patio area and down to the water. If you can handle steps, though, then I would say there's no reason not to stay here. Just beautiful.

Wonderful place!

Our group of family and friends couldn't have asked for a better place to gather. The cabins had plenty of space and were well equipped and comfortable. We had loads of things to do right on the property and spent much of our time on the dock, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and reading. Steve is a fine host and makes sure his guests are happy. And happy we were!
