We just got back from spending an early November weekend at this home with our daughter and her husband. The house is so light and bright, even on a cloudy day! You are surrounded by nature and as my husband said, it's like living in a tree house. The view is gorgeous from inside and outside on all the many decks and through the many, many large windows indoors. One evening it was warmish and Hubby and I spent a long time standing on the highest deck watching the twinkling stars and almost full moon as big puffy clouds passed over them while inhaling the clean, fresh, pine scented air. It was a glorious experience!
On the other hand, the first two nights we were there were in the 30s with gusting winds of 40 mph. Yet, we were all warm and cozy because of the fabulous pellet stove that is provided for your use while you are there. It is backed up with electric heat in every room, as well, but it was not even necessary to use it. We all left being sold on pellet stoves.
Giancarlo is a wonderful host and is very helpful, but most of all he is welcoming and makes you feel as though it is "your place" to enjoy while you're there. After a day out you always feel as though you're coming home at night, and what cozy, comfy evenings they were for us all.
The town is wonderful and for a 60s girl like myself it is a heartwarming place to be. Peace, love and tie-dye abound. :) But, I have to say the surrounding nature in the area eclipses all else. What a beautiful place The Catskills are! It was a welcome escape from the crowded suburbia that we all live in. There is skiing in the winter and zip lining, tubing in the rivers, local swimming holes, and hiking everywhere, plus much more to enjoy the rest of the year.
We highly recommend a Woodstock vacation and this is the house to do it in!! Thank you Giancarlo for a wonderful time!
