Beautiful!

5 of 5
This lovely, spacious home was a perfect place to unwind and rejuvenate. With a fully-stocked kitchen, incredible views, a fireplace and a fire pit (!!), we couldn't have asked for anything more. We were already planning our next stay before we left. Thanks so much to our accommodating hosts who were readily available throughout the process.

Beautiful property at a really remote location

4 of 5
This is a beautiful, very well maintained and equipped log cabin at a really remote location in the Catskills. If you would like to be completely disconnected from the outside world, this is the best rental for you! We rented this cabin for our family vacation for 5 people and it was very comfortable for our family. When we selected this cabin for our family vacation the amenities still listed Internet access. This has been corrected since as there is no Internet access at this place. We also chose this place because it has an outside fire pit, but we were notified 2 days before our arrival that the outside fire pit can only be used by the owner. Please note that due to the cancellation policy we could not do anything at the time of this notification. Please also note that the outside fire pit is still included in the general description of this property, and due to Department of Environmental Conservation rules only the owner can use it! Please also be advised that there is no Verizon cellphone coverage at this cabin, you need to drive about a half hour either way (to Margaretville or to Livingston Manor) if you'd like to use your cellphone. There is a wired phone for emergencies and satellite TV (Dish Network) with a limited selection of channels for electronic entertainment available. Once we got over the initial surprises about the lack of Internet, no cell coverage and prohibited outside bonfires, we still had a good time, it was just not exactly what we planned for our week away in the woods. We tried various hiking trails and the kayak rentals at the South end of the reservoir and we enjoyed all of them very much! For eating out we recommend Summerfields in Margaretville and The Arnold House in Livingston Manor. I also would like to thank the property management for returning our security deposit in full and very promptly after our departure! Enjoy your stay at this beautiful place!

It was a wonderful stay!

5 of 5
We had the pleasure of staying for an extended period of time in this house in the Andes. Words cannot describe the serenity and beauty of this location. It offers a more "City like" experience as it is located in the few blocks that make up the "city", as well as a very scenic location with a brook bubbling right through the backyard. From the very beginning, even before we arrived, the owner of this house reached out to us and went above and beyond herself to welcome us and to offer to us any assistance that we may need. The house is in pristine condition with all of the amenities one can want, even a washer and dryer! There are 3 comfortable bedrooms and 2 full baths. One can see the care and concern the owner has for her property, and it is something guests should have in mind when they rent it and likewise, guests should return her property in the condition that it was found in. This rental is an upstairs of a house, with the back porch literally within the foliage of the trees. I was pleasantly surprised to see less insects and mosquitoes compared to Brooklyn. The Hamlet of Andes offers antique shops and farms, with all the neighboring people who are kind and polite. The one thing that I had a hard time getting used to is having deer run across the streets when driving these roads in broad daylight. I would recommend tick repellent to those who are coming who may be playing/hanging out in grassy areas here. I would return to rent this location if the opportunity arises.
