I was looking for a getaway for my husband and i upstate and came across this cabin. Initially we were supposed to go on May 2nd but we had a death in the family that week and they were nice enough to let us reschedule our trip. So our getaway turned into a much needed escape after all.
When we arrived we met with Walter, who was very nice, at their home and he guided us to the location of the cabin which was located in the woods on a gravel road up a hill, so beware if your car can't handle that type of road. Luckily we took our SUV which had no trouble navigating its way to the cabin. From there he gave us a tour of the place. From the outside it looks like a regular cabin in the woods but in the inside, it is very modern and almost felt like staying at a hotel.
On our stay we went to the nearby town of Pine Plains to get some groceries at Pecks Market. There was great scenery everywhere you looked but other than that the town didn't really have much to do. Instead, we spent most of the stay exploring nearby Rhinebeck (20 min drive) which has lots of great restaurants, shops and activities.
On our downtime, we hiked around the property. Unfortunately, they do not have a TV in the cabin but we made due with our laptop we brought and luckily they had great WIFI signal. At night we saw that the bedrooms had no shades and we are not early morning risers so we placed a towel on the window to block out the sun which worked out fine.
All in all, we had a great time and we hope to come back some day.
