This home is beautiful there was plenty of room for the 11 of us with room to spare. The day after we got there we noticed the hot tub was not working and called the # we were given 10 min later the owner was there one of the nicest gentlemen i have known. Within min it was fixed and we used it that evening. Less then five min to Lake George. And walking distance to large playground, tennis and basket ball also shopping. We highly recommend this home

A very special place to unwind

5 of 5
My husband and I and my cousin and his wife added Camp Bearberry recently planned a trip to Cooperstown and decided to add some time in the mountains of New York to our itinerary. What a great decision! Camp Bearberry was the perfect spot to kick back for a few days and enjoy the view of the lake, playing checkers by the roaring fire, and watching the leaves turn splendid colors. We had a day of rainy, cold weather, and what could have been more perfect than watching the fog slip across the lake and the sun rise the next morning explains the words "Mirror Lake." The house is great, especially if you like traditional Adirondack furnishings. The owners obviously love the house, and it is filled with special collections and original art. The house from the lakefront (shown in the photo) is charming, and well kept. It is not hard to imagine "campers" running up and down the stairs and playing on the lawn that stretches down to the water. The kitchen worked well for us, the dining room is one of my favorite rooms (BEYOND charming!), and in spite of the cold outside the house was very comfortable. Location is extremely convenient to pop in and out of Lake Placid, which is FULL of great restaurants and cute shops. There are other houses around the property (it isn't set off all by itself) but the Camp has plenty of "private space." The drive up to Whiteface Mountain was gorgeous with the Fall leaves. The owner was particularly helpful in recommending places to eat and things to do (we loved lunch at The Cottage and dinner at the nearby Pub at Lake Placid Lodge). We loved seeing the rink where "Miracle on Ice" occurred! We would love to go back in the summer when we really enjoy the lake itself, perhaps starting in Montreal and driving down; however, flying out of Albany was a breeze, and the drive from Lake Placid down was just over 2 hours and a great foliage tour. Many thanks to Kathie S for all of her assistance! Camp Bearberry will always be special for all of us!

Small details - Big

5 of 5
tayed the week of 8/23 - 8/30/14. It was me (a dad), my twin 16 year old girls and one of their 16 year old friends. The property itself, although not isolated, certainly felt like it was. In fact, unless you drive down the quiet street or traverse out on the lake in the provided kayak and actually see the other properties, you'd swear you were alone! The interior of the home is tastefully done with rustic flair and comfort. There's a great view from the modern kitchen out to the lake, which includes a large counter with stools. This counter also 'separates' the kitchen from the dining area (it's all open). The kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans, baking dishes, etc., as well as, a popcorn maker, dual waffle iron (which was great), a Keurig (complete with a carousel of pods). A TV hangs nicely off the wall at the end of the counter for those who can't miss a show or who prefer to listen to music from the satellite receiver. Just a few steps away from the kitchen on the deck is a gas grill which we used quite frequently during our stay; a reserve propane tank was provided along with plenty of BBQ utensils. The deck also has a great tented cabana to enjoy the quiet scenery without bug annoyances (which really weren't bad at all during our stay). The two bedrooms were comfy; one has a 1/2 bath, not very large, but serves its purpose. Each has its own TV. The other bathroom on the main floor is large with a full shower/tub and washer & dryer, which was extremely convenient (even a nice selection of laundry soap, dryer towels, etc. were available for use in the cabinets above the machines, as well as, bars of soap and shampoo - left either by Meghan and Arthur or previous guests; we did to our part by buying and leaving behind some non-perishables for folks coming after us as it seemed to be the right thing to do). The F/R is well situated with a large sectional to view the wall-hung TV (complete with satellite, netflix, amazon) and a dvd player with a nice selection of movies). A kayak is left for use, which we used multiple times each day/evening. There's a large section of property lakeside that we used to play frisbee and baseball. A fire-pit sits at the edge of the water which was used each night. It was a fabulous week at a great property! Meghan and Arthur thought of all the small details and are terrific hosts! You'll love their place! We highly recommend it and would definitely stay again! 5 stars!
