                        COZY, QUIET COTTAGE

                        4 of 5
The area in which the cottage is located is very peaceful, which is what we were looking for as a break from big city life. The neighborhood is a mix of full-time and vacationing residents. The cottage reminded us of going to see grandma in that it's older yet homey and comfortable. The wraparound porch is a great place to hang out, and we enjoyed having our morning coffee and tea there while looking at the view. For most of our stay there was a constant cool breeze, which was great in that we could open up the screened windows and doors. It got a little toasty the final three days we were there, so the window AC unit was put to use in the early afternoon through mid-evening. Otherwise, the windows and doors were open. A ventilation fan in the bathroom is needed, but it's not something that is unmanageable. The owners are great communicators and responsive, something that is a big plus in our book. The breakfast table is a good spot for putting together a jigsaw puzzle. Our dogs enjoyed the stay, too, and made friends with two of the local dogs. There's great exercise in the form of walking to be had. Steep hills, so if you go down, you must walk back up. We enjoyed our daily walks and took different routes to see where we'd end up. There are many deer in the area. They come out in the early morning and early evening. They're part of the neighborhood, in that you'll see people in their yards and the deer will be nearby munching away on vegetation. We also liked the cottage's location because it is close to town without being in town. A short drive down the hill and we were in town. Glad for our stay.

A GREAT CABIN, A FLOWING RIVER, & A GORGEOUS CABIN

                        4 of 5
Although located on the owners' property at the end of a city street very near shopping, we found the cabin to be quiet except for the wonderful sound of the nearby river and the pond just outside. The cabin was well-appointed and included a washer/dryer. The only drawback, and it was minor, is that the bathroom is located on the main floor & the bedroom is upstairs. A nightlight would have been nice; we just left a light on. The location was great for getting to the nearby attractions. We rafted the Animas River, visited the magnificent Mesa Verde National Park, and spent an afternoon at the horse races. This was the priciest but far and away the nicest of the places we stayed on our 6 week visit to the US southwest.
