beautiful historic house on lakefront

5 of 5
My family had a wonderful 4 days at this old but comfy lake house. Chris, the owner, was helpful and very nice. The house was very clean, luxury bed linens, big TV and pool table in attic, big kitchen and dining table, very big dock and beautiful water views. We had perfect weather - water was too cold to swim, but we spent lots of time on the porch, kyaked, played games, cooked and ate wonderful meals, fished, and relaxed. We would absolutely come back to this house

Love the water!

5 of 5
This was a great spot for a reunion of four old high school buddies. You walk in the front door and are immediately struck by the view of this huge expanse of water -- the lake is really right there! We loved sitting outside and listening to the water lapping at the dock. Nice breeze, shade if you need it. It's simply a lovely location. The cottage has everything you would need, but even if it didn't it wouldn't matter. It's just a great place to be.

A Great Escape!

5 of 5
This island getaway just an hour from New York City is like putting yourself inside a painting of a lush lake and charming Victorian-era white house with a huge wraparound porch. The house sits atop a beautiful hilltop with a panoramic view of the deep blue lake. Picture yourself with your morning coffee on this veranda while the lake shimmers in front of you. Or sunning on the dock below waiting to water-ski or swim. You'll never want to leave but if you need a break, restaurants and shopping are a quick boat ride across the lake. The house is meticulously clean and well-maintained; it is also charming and comfortable, with a fireplace in the living room and plenty of cozy bedrooms and sleeping spaces. A hiking trail that leads in a circle around the island is just steps from the back door. Halsey Island reminds you of the very private, stunning, rustic lakes and islands and deep woods near International Falls, Minnesota. But the drive to get there is only a matter of a few hours from many locations in the Northeast. I would recommend this exclusive vacation spot to all family and friends.
