Fantastic... again!

5 of 5
The last time Dave and I stayed here we hiked up Mt Pemi where David proposed to me, Jay and Linda on finding this out really made a lovely fuss of us both, we loved the old Farm house, it was like home from home. the house was immaculately turned out, the kitchen had more appliances, baking equipment etc than mine does! ...... When Dave and a I decided on another trip to the New England from England, this time our honeymoon! the Old farm house was a must, Jay and Linda have been very busy since we last stayed and have converted the old dining room into a wonderful kitchen, installed a downstairs half bath and a mud room/laundry. as always the standards are high. Also they have started a new cottage added to the rear of the house with views over the mountains .... looks incredible. Were already planning a summer trip to The Old Farm house, we can highly recommend to all travelers ...Jacqui and David Giles

Wonderful Christmas vacation stay

5 of 5
From the moment we walked in the door, we felt at home. My family came here to enjoy Christmas together, including 9 adults and 5 kids under the age of 4. There enough space that we were didn't always feel in each others' space, but still cozy to feel like we were at home with each other. We travelled from Boston, Philadelphia and southeastern Virginia to spend the holiday together and it could not have been better. Sandy did a great job of acclimating us to the house and all it has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunroom for coffee and breakfasts, as well as to do a puzzle in. We didn't get to use the jacuzzi or movie theater room as much as the adults might have liked (because of the little ones), but it was great when we did get to use them. We didn't use the bunkroom, but, again, having the extra space for kids to run around in (supervised, of course!) was helpful during the rainy days. We did not use Sandy's catering service, as we wanted to prepare our own holiday meals, but the kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances and utensils anyone could need. The area is a small town, so there are not a lot of amenities immediately nearby (compared to if you stayed in Conway or Lincoln), but for us, we mostly just wanted a quiet Christmas together, and that's what we got! The river behind the house is beautiful and there are lots of opportunities to go sledding, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing. Lincoln and Plymouth are about 30 minutes away, so if you need to go shopping or want to explore more of a "Main Street" type town, it's not hard to get to. Also, ski slopes and hiking are not unreasonably far. Rustic Gatherings Lodge helped make our Christmas so special. Everyone felt the warmth and comfort of being home. In fact, my German grandmother described the house "gemütlich", a word not well translated to English that conveys warmth, home, and the ability to be at ease because you're in comfy, familiar place with close friends or family. I think that best describes Rustic Gatherings Lodge and the atmosphere Sandy has created!
