Lovely home, great views, relaxing week!

4 of 5
Great rental- clean and bright. Nice house on a good sized property with large, bright bedroom. Windows on three sides provided nice views of Highland Lake. Unfortunately our weather was rather chilly and rainy for a good part of our stay. Nice sunsets when the weather cooperated, though! The lake is beautiful and the location quite nice. Cell service was iffy for us but there is a landline phone available for use in a pinch. Well appointed kitchen had everything we needed to cook complete meals. Especially loved the grill top on the Viking stove- perfect for us since we weren't able to use the new gas grill because of weather. Towns of Keene & Hillsborough are within 20-30 mins. Check out Tooky Mills Pub in H'Boro for great pub food at reasonable prices. In Keene, stop by Fritz's for a beer and and the best french fries you'll ever eat! (The sandwiches were real good, too, but- man...those fries!) Future renters should be aware that the deck had no railings on it and there was quite a drop off two sides (3 to 4 foot drop at the lake side of it). The angle of the photos are deceiving and make it appear as if it's just a short step down. The oversize table on the deck with chairs doesn't leave much room to maneuver and if one isn't paying attention it's not at all a stretch to imagine falling off. We exercised particular caution when on the deck. Also, the parking area is situated above the house with no steps down to the home, just a little slope down to the front door. It was a little muddy from all the rain, though, and I was concerned about slipping. Previous renter remarked about the steep road with a trailer in tow. Approaching or leaving the property via Pinetop Road (just a few 10ths of a mile from the road this home is on) is the way to go- much more gradual and far less hair-raising! Owner was a pleasure to deal with and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Thank you, Natalie, for accommodating our late rental request due to my husband's unpredictable work schedule. (P.S. Dog enjoyed his vacation, too!)

Perfect Autumn Retreat

5 of 5
When my husband and I travel, we like to stay in homes rather than hotel rooms. Our stay at Highland Lake was one of the best rentals we have ever had. The house, although spacious, was also cozy enough for two people. The comfort, cleanliness and appearance of the interior of the house far exceded our expectations.Whether sitting on the dock or on the screened porch, it was so relaxing we never wanted to leave. We will definitely be back. A big thank you to the Wrights for going above and beyond the call of duty to make our stay exceptional!
