Loved the loons

5 of 5
Stayed at Camp Kusumpy with a group of women friends and had the best time. Very secluded, yet convenient for shopping. We all loved the loons and paddling around the cove in the kayaks. The house is casual and very comfortable and the deck is a beautiful place to sit and have dinner. We met the owner when we arrived and she was very gracious and welcoming. I would recommend this place for a wonderful vacation.

Three Generations of Our Family Had a Great Time

5 of 5
We spent a week at this comfortable and welcoming family home. We came for a family gathering of our adult children and their families and friends and this rental had everything we needed. The house was lived-in, grandchild-friendly, dog-friendly, and sensibly equipped. The last paragraph of the description on the listing nicely describes the feeling of the house. The second refrigerator came in very handy given the changing numbers for meals and the house is located close enough to a wonderful farm stand and the best local market so going out for more groceries was never a problem. The large screened-in porch served as a great dining room with plenty of room for everyone. On rainy days, there was room enough for small groups to be doing totally separate things in the house or on the porch without any sense of being cramped or bothering someone who might be napping. Open beach or sandy shallows are relatively rare on Squam. The beach here was unusually large and shallow enough for youngsters to get in and out of the water with ease. Even if the lake is high, leaving no uncovered sandy beach to sit on, the large area of sandy shallows is there for playing in the water and the dock is always there for sitting by the water with an outstanding view and sunsets. Several houses on this family property share the beach, and our family and the owner’s family members used the beach at the same time on occasion without any problem. All of the bedrooms, but one over the kitchen, were quiet and the beds were comfortable. Earplugs solved any noise issues with that one bedroom. The second floor shower is cramped, but was hardly an issue. Our family had a wonderful vacation at this property and we would recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable and spacious place on the lake.

Squam Cabin Getaway

5 of 5
This is a great cabin if you need to recharge your batteries. My wife, our dog, and I went up for the week before Labor Day and we brought our boat (16ft Starcraft fishing boat). The cabin is tucked away on the north side of Squam in quiet Squaw Cove, the water is very protected and there isn't ever very much wind or wave action. The dock was ample for the boat and the drive from the Sandwich Town Launch was a reasonable ride. You can use the State Boat Launch in Holderness as well, but my boat has a small engine and is slow so I opted for the closer one. Anyway we settled into a nice routine right away, Annabelle's cold nose would wake me up around 6, I'd let her out and feed her. Then should would settle down for an after breakfast nap (she leads a tough life) and I would grab my rods for a couple hours of fishing. When I got back Erin and I would have breakfast and get ready for the day. We'd get ready for whatever activity we had for the day: Hiking (Butterworth/Rattlesnake or Five Fingers Point), Boat trips, Conway Outlets (a day when the weather was rather lousy), sometimes we spent the day doing nothing. I think Erin made it through 2 books. We'd grill dinner and enjoyed cocktails on the deck as the sun went down. Our ATT phones didn't work at the cabin but did down the road in Holderness or Sandwich Center, however we had a Verizon 4G Hotspot and that worked at the cabin - once a day we'd turn it to make sure the outside world was still there, it's real easy to lose track of the world when you are there. Another thing to keep in mind is that the grocery store is about a half hour away so no forgetting anything at the store - there is a convenience store in Holderness that has the basics. All in all we had a wonderful time and look forward to going back. The main cabin is setup well for a couple, the sleeping cabins would be great for kids or another couple. I think our dog Annabelle had the best time out of all of us. She's a Black Lab and loves the water and being in the woods and being able to go for a swim whenever she wanted was heaven for her. There is also a dog run installed which was convenient.
