                        SQUAM CABIN GETAWAY

                        5 of 5
This is a great cabin if you need to recharge your batteries. My wife, our dog, and I went up for the week before Labor Day and we brought our boat (16ft Starcraft fishing boat). The cabin is tucked away on the north side of Squam in quiet Squaw Cove, the water is very protected and there isn't ever very much wind or wave action. The dock was ample for the boat and the drive from the Sandwich Town Launch was a reasonable ride. You can use the State Boat Launch in Holderness as well, but my boat has a small engine and is slow so I opted for the closer one. Anyway we settled into a nice routine right away, Annabelle's cold nose would wake me up around 6, I'd let her out and feed her. Then should would settle down for an after breakfast nap (she leads a tough life) and I would grab my rods for a couple hours of fishing. When I got back Erin and I would have breakfast and get ready for the day. We'd get ready for whatever activity we had for the day: Hiking (Butterworth/Rattlesnake or Five Fingers Point), Boat trips, Conway Outlets (a day when the weather was rather lousy), sometimes we spent the day doing nothing. I think Erin made it through 2 books. We'd grill dinner and enjoyed cocktails on the deck as the sun went down. Our ATT phones didn't work at the cabin but did down the road in Holderness or Sandwich Center, however we had a Verizon 4G Hotspot and that worked at the cabin - once a day we'd turn it to make sure the outside world was still there, it's real easy to lose track of the world when you are there. Another thing to keep in mind is that the grocery store is about a half hour away so no forgetting anything at the store - there is a convenience store in Holderness that has the basics. All in all we had a wonderful time and look forward to going back. The main cabin is setup well for a couple, the sleeping cabins would be great for kids or another couple. I think our dog Annabelle had the best time out of all of us. She's a Black Lab and loves the water and being in the woods and being able to go for a swim whenever she wanted was heaven for her. There is also a dog run installed which was convenient.
