spacious home, but needs a deep cleaning!

4 of 5
This home was beautiful and spacious! I rented this home for my fiancés 30th birthday. We had 12 guests in total. Everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. Sean was very friendly, and was nice enough to accommodate us with extra sleeping bags. We didn't need them, but it was nice of him to offer. We went in the middle of January so there was snow, but nothing was shoveled! The deck was filled with snow and even if we wanted to use the hot tub, we were afraid we would hurt ourselves trying to get to it. The basement (man cave) was nice and it was really big. The bar room was a nice plus. The master bedroom was the best! It was secluded from the other rooms and it has a huge window overlooking the woods. Overall, this rental home was beautiful and spacious. We didn't need a thing as Sean provided everything for us except food and drinks. He was super friendly and seemed laid back. The only problem I had with this rental home was the cleanliness. The sheets on the bed were disgusting and weren't washed before hand! The bathrooms weren't clean either. There is a washer and dryer so I could've washed the sheets, but linen should be washed right before someone rents the property. Otherwise, I would recommend this rental to anyone who is looking for a getaway in the woods, but close enough to grocery stores and liquor stores.

Beautiful view - Survived a nor-easter

4 of 5
We spent a week at this condo in late October. The weather was gorgeous then we weathered an incredible nor-easter storm and then it was beautiful again. This place was excellent for us as a couple of kayakers we were able to launch our boats only steps away. Just to the right of the parking area, there are some steps down to the beach to get around the seawall which protects the house. In the storm the waves were hitting the top of the wall and sending seaweed over the top. Kayaking over to Wallis Sands is not far but it is rocky so must watch the tides. There is a hose on the side of the house to hose down wetsuits and sandy boats which was useful. We went to Portsmouth for a few hours which was cute, and along the way a walk in Odiorne Park where you can see the wartime gunner positions and old oak trees. We enjoyed our trip so much, and cooked every night with our groceries from Philbrick's. Nancy was easy to deal with by email. The only negative was that the place was not very clean. Maybe this was because it was the off-season but I was expecting hotel cleanliness and it was more like airbnb with earwigs, hairs, and dust. Though at the reasonable off-season prices, I don't find this warrants removing multiple stars, however I would not stay here in the high season. Another reviewer called this an exclusive community, but as you drive in and see the missing letters from "The Breakers" sign, you know that this is an aging set of condos with a fantastic location. The white garbage boxes outside are rotting through and are riddled with loose trash that is never cleaned. The condo itself is dated, though mostly on the sleeping level down below. For me, one sunrise over the water with coffee in hand, put all these little things to rest.

Breathtaking views and peaceful ocean getaway

5 of 5
We rented this lovely home for the month of March 2014 and were so impressed with everything! The view is stunning of the ocean right outside your door. The home is well appointed and had plenty of room for our family. We had an extra long "spring break" and there was plenty to do even in the winter. We loved the town of Rye and Hampton and shopped at Joe's Butcher and Al's Seafood and then came home and made fabulous meals in the huge kitchen. We walked on the beach everyday. Cannot say enough. We hope to come back again.
