Beautiful view - Survived a nor-easter

4 of 5
We spent a week at this condo in late October. The weather was gorgeous then we weathered an incredible nor-easter storm and then it was beautiful again. This place was excellent for us as a couple of kayakers we were able to launch our boats only steps away. Just to the right of the parking area, there are some steps down to the beach to get around the seawall which protects the house. In the storm the waves were hitting the top of the wall and sending seaweed over the top. Kayaking over to Wallis Sands is not far but it is rocky so must watch the tides. There is a hose on the side of the house to hose down wetsuits and sandy boats which was useful. We went to Portsmouth for a few hours which was cute, and along the way a walk in Odiorne Park where you can see the wartime gunner positions and old oak trees. We enjoyed our trip so much, and cooked every night with our groceries from Philbrick's. Nancy was easy to deal with by email. The only negative was that the place was not very clean. Maybe this was because it was the off-season but I was expecting hotel cleanliness and it was more like airbnb with earwigs, hairs, and dust. Though at the reasonable off-season prices, I don't find this warrants removing multiple stars, however I would not stay here in the high season. Another reviewer called this an exclusive community, but as you drive in and see the missing letters from "The Breakers" sign, you know that this is an aging set of condos with a fantastic location. The white garbage boxes outside are rotting through and are riddled with loose trash that is never cleaned. The condo itself is dated, though mostly on the sleeping level down below. For me, one sunrise over the water with coffee in hand, put all these little things to rest.

Sweet beach cottage, perfect location!

5 of 5
We stayed here for a week with our two kids (6 and 8 y/o) and it was perfect! Joe was so nice. He made us feel like family and had everything clean and ready for our stay including beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys and a cart to transport it all to the beach. One of the best features of the cottage was the outdoor shower, great for rinsing the sand after a day at the beach. The rocky beach just across the way was the best for exploring tide pools and it was a short 5-7 min. walk through the neighborhood to the sandy state beach (which is not as crowded as some of the other beaches south of here). The cottage is cozy, but fit us all just fine with one kid sleeping in the loft and the other on the foldout loveseat. The kitchen had plenty of supplies for cooking meals in. There was a closet and dresser for storage as well as a cupboard for food. The a/c was nice for humid days, but we hardly needed it with the ocean breeze. The pool is clean and not heated, but that didn't stop the kids from going in. The cottage is located in a quiet and peaceful area. And it's location was great for visiting nearby Portsmouth where we had a delicious (and pricey) lobster meal at Surf. We also stopped at Fort Constitution in New Castle. And for rainy days there's tons to do including the Seacoast Science Center, candle-pin bowling (only in New England!), and the outlet stores in Kittery, ME. All in all, we loved this place and plan to return next time we are in NH.
