ANOTHER GREAT STAY AT HIGHER GROUND-WE'LL BE BACK!

5 of 5
As usual, our visit to the Rindge/Keene/Peterborough area was great. Higher Ground was a perfect home base for all of our adventures. Jessica made sure everything was in place for our arrival, answered questions during the week and we had a wonderful stay. Could not recommend this property more wholeheartedly. I spoke with Ryan after our stay and I told him he and his wife really got it right with all they have done to make this place even more special than it naturally is. The new paddle boards and kayaks were a big hit. The towns of Keene and Peterborough are our favorites. Lots of great restaurants and things to do. We are already looking forward to our next trip to Higher Ground.

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE AND SURROUNDINGS

5 of 5
We were 2 families of 4 that stayed at the Cottage and what a beautiful house it is. Modern, clean and perfect! Nothing better than getting up first thing to see the fog lifting off the lake, watching the lotus flowers open each morning and enjoying breakfast out side. The kids had the boats to use whenever they wanted. It is quiet and secluded but roomy and perfect having the guest house which is where the kids stayed, like they had their own place! David is a great host, anything we needed we had Tara the house manager to call although we had no problems all week. The house is stocked with everything you need, and not with old mismatched furnishings. We went hiking Mt Monadnock only 15 minutes away, zip lining, and cycling around the lake which was a great 9 mile ride for the kids because it wasn't a main road, and of course we went to Kimball Farms for the biggest Ice cream cone we ever had! Supermarkets close by. I really can't say enough about this piece of heaven we were lucky to stay at on Lake Mononomac. Thank you again David! We would definitely come back - because no one wanted to leave....Kari

PERFECT PLACE FOR OUR FAMILY REUNION

5 of 5
The castle was all the we hoped for and more. The layout, particularly the living room (with grand piano) and the central staircase (with suit of armor) were fantastic--well appointed, lavishly decorated, and impeccably maintained, with plenty of books, games, and movies. The kitchen had all the amenities, including staples (we had brought our own, not knowing what to expect). We were 10 adults and 7 children. Even though it rained all weekend and we were essentially housebound, there was plenty of room for us to spread out, play, and socialize. (Ours was a family reunion, so that's how we wanted it. It was perfect for us.) We even used the jacuzzi outside and the kids had fun sliding down the hill. The bedrooms were wonderful and the playroom upstairs was great for the kids. We also got good use out of the pool table, darts, and poker table in the basement. It was extremely comfortable and everybody loved it. The owner was very gracious. He provided a one-page listing of restaurants, etc. in the area prior to our arrival. He was very appreciative of our treatment of the place (we were conscientious about cleaning) and happily and promptly refunded our deposit in full. The location, despite being just over the border from Massachusetts, is fairly remote. The property is grand, with great views. Outdoor activity is your best bet. I recommend mapping out directions very carefully in advance. We got lost despite having a navigation system, a printed Google map, and maps on an iphone. Some roads are minor or dirt, and not all systems recognize them. Once you know where you're going, it's not difficult.
