Amazing. Simply amazing.

What a spectacular time my family and I had this past July at this gorgeous home on Great East Lake. We had a full house in our party, friends and family, including my 4 year old and 19 month old. Having stayed at a number of homes on various lakes in New Hampshire, I must say that the Great East Lodge has surpassed all previous experiences. This is a truly special home. The house is well maintained and furnished beautifully (having access to wifi was a huge plus in my book too!) The main floor has a great kitchen that includes and incredible antique oven, a very comfortable living room area with an HDTV and DVD player, and the dining room with the most ceiling fixture I have ever seen. Upstairs, the bedrooms were all very comfortable and clean. The view from the lakeside bedrooms in the morning is breathtaking. There really is nothing like waking up to the sound of water lapping on the shore. The tub upstairs was great for bathing my children, who also loved the bunkroom. As for outside, the large deck area was perfect for taking in sunset lit dinners. Having access to a both a smoker and gas grill in the BBQ area was a big convenience. The back porch abuts the volleyball/basketball/badminton court, with big comfy cushioned couches and chairs perfect for reading in the shade. For reading in the sun there was always the tiered deck area with Adirondack chairs, looking out on the lake (right next to the tiki bar!) Not to mention all that was there to occupy your time. When I was finally able to get my little girls off of the swing set, we made use of the paddleboards, pedal boat, noodles, swimming float, and more. There was even a private dock that we made use of when we rented a pontoon boat from a local boatyard. We were very lucky with the weather during our stay, but even if it had rained, there were a ton of activities to do. The game room had both billiards and Ping-Pong tables, in addition to puzzles, DVDs, books, and games. I can’t recommend this property enough. Having so much to do in one place was wonderful. We were a big party and felt very accommodated by the owners, who were always very helpful and very friendly. The location and lake are scenic and awe inspiring. Great East Lake had the cleanest water I have ever seen in New Hampshire. Not to mention, you are near to area attractions like Laconia, but don’t have any of the hassles or noise of staying on a bigger lake. Don’t miss out out. Great East Lodge is a true gem.

NH Vacation

4 of 5
Rating Details: I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was more than happy with the location. The vacation rental was clean. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: WE had a wonderful 2 week vacation in the White Mountains...we chose a house that had 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms to accommodate our large family...the house was rustic and the downstairs needed a bit more cleaning, but we enjoyed the wide open spaces and well appointed kitchen...the porch was ideal for sitting with coffee or drinks and enjoying the mountains...unfortunately there really wasn't a yard for our grandchildren to play in, but we kept them busy with outdoor activities in the area. Manager responded on 8/4/2014: Thank you for review Mr. McPaul. We are regretful that we were not aware of an issue in lowest level of the home during your stay. Turns out there was a carpenter ant problem that was the cause of the 'dirtiness' that was experienced, and as since found, has been professionally eradicated and fully cleaned. Our sincere apology for Ma Nature making a bit of a mess on us, and so glad it wasn't any greater trouble or cause to concern during your stay. Again, all fixed and cured now however. 8/4/2014. Great vacation spot

As for our vacation experience in this rental, we all came away with very positive things to say. However, we would like to provide some commentary regarding insurance coverage. During our stay the golf cart charger burned out; its significant replacement cost, deducted from our security deposit, might have been avoided with such an insurance.
