A very lovely, historic, peaceful location!

5 of 5
We wanted a large-enough house to accommodate our family of three grown children and spouses, plus two grandchildren, for Mother's Day weekend. This house has four bedrooms upstairs and two down, which was perfect. There were extra twin beds in one of the large bedrooms that also had a queen-size bed, so children could have slept there, too. The kitchen seated 10 easily, but we often just put out food on the table and people went out to the screened porch to eat. It was an unnaturally-warm weekend for May and we even took dunks in the swimming pond and our grandchildren loved paddling around on the floating raft, looking at the tadpoles and salamanders, and running up and down the lawn. The house was very clean and well-organized and the manager, Lisa, had done a great job of preparing the house and grounds for us and was very available. The description on the website is accurate, as are the pictures. Part of the charm of this house is the sense of history that is present in each of the rooms. We appreciate being able to imagine living as people did when the house was new. The bathrooms had new and beautiful tile and were modern and very clean. With one full and one half bath upstairs, and one full bath downstairs (both with showers in the tubs) we had plenty of bathroom space! We enjoyed walking in the woods to Crescent Lake and listening to the birds, seeing the unfolding of the ferns and leaves on the trees over the course of our stay (the warmth was a plus), grilling on the deck near the house and eating on the screened porch (and just sitting out there, talking, as it got dark. One of the most wonderful things we did was go up to the second-floor deck to look at the stars. We live in a city area where the lights are so bright you can't see stars very well. Here they were, as our daughter said, "Amazing!" We picked out constellations and marveled at the brightness of the stars. If you are looking for a place that is near grocery or other shopping, this is probably not the place for you. We brought all our own food and didn't go anywhere to buy more (although we understand there is a supermarket and, I think, a mall near Claremont, a bit of a drive away). This place is really a wonderful retreat--to "get away from it all" and enjoy each other and the natural surroundings. We would definitely recommend this lovely home to friends (and already have) and we would love to come back again.

Great family place

5 of 5
We had a great time staying at this farmhouse. Plenty of room for 2 grandparents, 2 adult sons and 3 granddaughters. It's a big house, so was a little drafty, but a sweater or sweatshirt took care of the chill. The house had everything we needed for cooking and bedding. A mixed blessing was the lack of cable/wi-fi as we couldn't watch what was happening with the blizzard back home, but the family gametime that resulted was well worth it. King Pine ski area and attractions were less than 10 minutes away. Barbara, the owner, was fantastic to work with and the location is absolutely beautiful.

Heavenly wedding spot!

5 of 5
This by far was this most amazing property I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. My husband and I held our wedding here (about 50 people) under a tent, in the fantastic yard with a gorgeous lakeside view. Between the house, lake, woods and, rustic barn, there are unlimited amount of areas for photo ops (our photographer thought it was a dream property to shot on). The home itself is so tastefully decorated and comfortable. The seating area in the front room made me excited to get out of bed very early in the morning to watch the sun come up and the fog roll out. The house was so clean and filled with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The garage and carriage house have more than enough things to keep you entertained on the lake, in the yard or on a rainy day! Lastly, the owners were FANTASTIC! So accommodating and caring, they truly want to make you sure you enjoy your entire stay. There has been so much thought into how to make this property the best rental vacation spot! A huge thank you to the owners! We hope to spend some anniversaries here!
