We had such a nice time at this rental! My husband and I, and four adult children in their twenties, enjoyed the sun, kayaking, canoeing, snorkeling, fishing, rope swing, elephant rock, eagles nest area, serenity and perfect sized beautifully clean lake. We enjoyed the spacious floor plan, decor, architecture and furnishings of this home. They were unique, and helped us to imagine that we were vacationing in an earlier time period at this house that was originally built in 1901. We took advantage of the area climb of Thumbs Up Mountain in Hancock, the town center library where we printed our fishing licenses, and the cute general store. Mount Monadnock climb was 30 min. away. Peterborough was a great artsy little town to visit with many shops, oil and vinegar tasting shop, chocolate shop, museums( we visited Mariposa), a Peterborough Players theater( we did not have time, would attend another time). We spent most of our time on the lake, but could have spent more time in town, even Harrisville if rainy. The owners were very helpful answering any questions I had. We are always worried about my daughters allergies to dogs and cats- we were happy not have issues with this at all. The internet worked fine. You can see the lake from the house. We were not sure about this before arriving but it was fine.( I actually saw great fire works on the lake from the living room window) Enjoyed doing yoga in front of the house on the lawn, and at the lakeside lawn and boat ramp area. We brought our own two sail/kayaks which worked great on this lake, not too windy or choppy as we had experienced on Lake George, but really good here. Other pretty sail boats were out and nice to watch. Appreciated having use of the owners boats;two single, one double seat kayaks, and a canoe to tour around the lake, and into Spoon Pond which touches Lake Nubanusit. We rented a paddle board for the week on the way to Peterborough at Eastern Mountain Sports and while out that way picked up groceries at Shaws( 20 min from the house) We enjoyed preparing our own meals in their equipped kitchen. I liked using their very unique huge cast iron fry pan for roasting vegetables, etc. The coffee maker was great, yet my children wanted to bring our espresso coffee maker- plenty of room for this. We did not go to any restaurants but were told of many fine places in the area to eat out. We enjoyed sharing reunited family time here, with opportunity at quiet privacy and moments of shared adventure.
