We are a 4-generation group of 10 and we had a blast! Where do we start to describe our memorable stay in your wonderful home! How many firsts our family was able to have! Examples: On our way to the property we saw sun dogs! A 4 year old girl caught snowflakes on her tongue for the first time. An 8 year old boy found a snow mole and the excitement spread through all the children, even the 11 year old girl found the mole had hidden in her jacket. And, the 3 year old boy couldn't get enough sledding...Awesome! Dad, let's do it again! the cooperation of building 2 snowmen, face to face (complete with Neill's kit) and a snow cave deep enough to hide in, which also was used as a mini-ski jump. Oh, yes, the house.
The house was like a favorite grandparent's home, warm and welcoming. Well-stocked with what would be expected and some not expected, like some sleds for the children to enjoy. Clean and comfortable. No surprises, equal or better than the description. Plenty of room to spread out, some in the living room by the fire, watching TV, some using the dining room table, playing cards, while others were in the kitchen but all within earshot able to participate in whatever was going on. And a library to drool over.
What freedom a place like this provided to a 4- generation family. We relished the opportunity to play at sledding as long as we like, not being rushed off to some other activity because it was time.
Our host, Neill, is the ideal host, responsive but not intrusive. Ask and he helps (and helps, and helps) but always respects privacy.
Each of us left with special memories that we will re-live often during our family get-to-gethers. The serenity of a snowfall. The thrill of the downhill sled (even though the mittens were shredded) And I, the great-grandmother, have so many pictures, both real and in my head! What a present!
I guess what said it all was my granddaughter asking if I could buy a place like this for our family to use. Neill came up with the perfect solution...I can rent this again...which my family will campaign for, I'm sure!
