Our visit to Paul and Tom's home on Black Cat Island could not have been more enjoyable. The home itself is lovely, with all the charm one hopes for when staying at Lake Winnipesaukee. We really enjoyed the large dining room table for playing games in the evenings with our family. We found the kitchen to have all the utensils and cookware to meet our needs. The bedrooms on the lower two levels, although not large, were very comfortable. Our favorite bedroom, hands down, was the master bedroom at the peak of the A-frame. It was so very serene waking to the beautiful sunrise each morning.
The house is very accommodating, but the real selling point for this property is the waterfront area. While the steps may be difficult to negotiate for less mobile people, my wife's 93 year old grandmother was able to walk them with some assistance. We spent the majority of our days, from early morning to early evening, swimming, sunbathing, fishing (bass and perch), roasting marshmallows, and enjoying the view. The swimming area has a huge sandy bottom and the waters are much calmer than on the south side of the island. We even rented a 23' Pontoon boat from Shep Brown's marina one day and had no problem tying it up on their enormous dock.
Although we didn't meet them personally, Paul and Tom came across as very friendly and inviting during our email exchanges. We definitely hope to stay here again!
