New Hampshire Tranquility

5 of 5
My adult daughter and I stayed at this extraordinary home in August of 2014 and loved it. The home was spotless and decorated beautifully - just the right touch of upscale New England charm. Fresh air and peace and quiet were in ample supply. Our beds were extremely comfortable, and there was an air conditioner in each bedroom. My daughter used hers; I was fine just opening my windows. Speaking of windows, there are some stunning ones in this home, many floor-to-ceiling in the lower level, and one in the bathroom, allowing for the feeling of being right there in nature. The bathroom was very large and fully stocked with toiletries. The walk-in pantry had a large selection of staples. The laundry area was very large. The owner had small "post it" notes in a few areas of the home, offering tips. We enjoyed the seclusion of the home and it's décor, but yet also felt close to different things to do in the area. We saw a terrific musical at the playhouse in Wilton, and enjoyed some shopping in Peterboro. I was staying in the area to run a half marathon at Franklin Pierce University, which was a scenic half hour drive. As there were very few hotels/motels in the area, I was more than pleased to find this vacation home. I highly recommend it. And I strongly agree with the previous review in that the owner was more than accommodating for us. I gave her a mere two days notice, which I apologize for, and she was absolutely great. She was a pleasure to work with. The home was in perfect condition.

Perfect Week Away

Everything you would ever want to do is right there in the house or on the lake - walking, reading (on the deck or on the dock), canoeing, relaxing. We took daily short trips to bike area trails. The pellet stove was great for cool fall mornings. People and Labrador retriever heaven.

wonderful experience

We stayed at the Sunnyside farmhouse with our 2 kids ages 2 and 5 and the grandparents, and had a great time! We really enjoyed being close up with the animals (I especially loved waking up to see the cows grazing just outside our window, and our kids especially loved the pigs). I liked teaching them where our food comes from and we all learned more about sustainable farming. As a family run inn and farm, we felt very welcomed. Thank you, Jackie and Caitlin! The farmhouse was clean and it was nice to cook most of our meals in the kitchen. We bought chickens and beef raised there on the farm to cook and enjoy! A specialty local market and a bigger supermarket are close by. Our kids also really liked the little playground. The view from the farmhouse of the hills dotted with color and the pastures was beautiful. Alyson's apples being right next door was fantastic. We did a lot of apple picking. Location wise, I was so pleased. Being from the west coast, I had no idea what to expect, but Walpole is such a cute, quintessential New England town and the Monadnock region is just ideal for viewing fall foliage. Though we were told it wasn't a great year for colors, it was still so beautiful. We didn't have to travel very far to see covered bridges, visit an organic dairy farm or go hiking. You can go on a beautiful hike right on the farm's property, in fact! In addition, you have easy access to VT as Walpole lies right along the Connecticut river. If we had more time and the hurricaine hadn't taken out some of the roads, we definitely would've spent more time in VT as well. Bottom line, I highly recommend Inn at Valley Farms if you want to relax, enjoy nature and organic farming and explore the surrounding areas.
