Relaxing Getaway, Beautiful Lake

5 of 5
My husband and I came here to celebrate our one-year anniversary. We had originally booked the house for a mini-moon right after our wedding but had to cancel because I had injured my foot prior to the wedding. Janice immediately returned our deposit and very generously offered to let us stay for a couple of nights for the following summer for our anniversary, which we were very happy to take her up on! The house was perfect for the two of us and our little dog. It had everything we needed but was also rustic enough to feel like we were really away from everything. It was really nice not having the distractions of TV or the internet (we did have good enough service on our phones to check email, which was nice). It almost felt like we had gone back in time, to simpler days, which is always a great way to feel when you're on vacation! The lake is very clean and beautiful and there are lots of great outdoor areas--the large deck, which is just steps from the water and is nice and shady, the dock, and a nice little sitting area with two chaise lounges where we watched the sunset every night. We grilled on the deck for almost every meal, which was great. There are also a couple of restaurants nearby if you don't feel like cooking. Breakfast at the English Muffin was really good! We had such a great time that we decided to extend our stay an extra night and will most likely return again sometime. Janice was a pleasure to work with and very helpful. After leaving my bathing suit, without even realizing it, she was kind enough to send it back without me having to ask! I highly recommend staying at Janice's sweet little cottage on the lake. You will have a great time!

Paradise

5 of 5
If you're looking for a peaceful vacation spot to decompress; this is it. The home is somewhat remotely tucked away in the woods on the shores of Walker Pond but still offers all the comforts of home. It is spotlessly clean and well maintained; the details and photos in the rental description are spot on! There are so many amenities included we weren't bored for a minute. The hosts met us at the lake house to show us around and answer any questions we had. They are a wonderful couple and pleasure to meet. They're very knowledgeable about the area and have prepared a notebook with things of interest in the area and are only a phone call away to answer if any questions arise. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could imagine needing including basic supplies and spices. There were many choices of pots, pans, skillets, stock pots & kitchen tools as well as kitchen electrics like a Crock Pot, blender, food processor, toaster, Keurig coffee maker & mixer. Meals were so pleasant with the view overlooking the lake. The king size bed with a pillow top mattress was very comfortable; we slept quite well. The fishing was great both from the dock & boat while on the lake. We caught and released small mouth bass, pickerel, perch & pan fish. It was great fun! The loons could be seen with the young one swimming on the lake. We enjoyed the side trips to small towns nearby and the state capital of Concord; they're all within a short drive. The climb to the top of Mt. Kearsarge was breath taking. The view from the top is incredible. The day trip to the coast and visit in Portsmouth were both scenic and interesting. We were saddened as the week drew to a close but hope to return again and would recommend this home to our friends. The memories we've made and friends we've met will not be forgotten.

Perfect get away!

5 of 5
This place is perfect to just get away from it all and enjoy some lake life and quiet time with the family! Celeste is the best! we had trouble with the wifi Celeste came right to the house and spent the time to make sure it was all up and running before she left. The morning view is the best! you can not beat it. The great this about the location is that the dam is located to the left of the back of the house, if you have children and they want to take the raft or kayak out it is so easy to keep them in one area as you watch them from the patio right at the lake near your own dock. I am booking it for next year and trying to stay for a whole week.. It is so beautiful all hours of the day! the stores right down the road and the neighbors never bother you. I is well worth the money! The cottage is very clean Celeste does a great job keeping up with it.. we were all so sad when it was time to leave... we WILL be going back! we can not wait..Thank you Celeste! we all loved it.
