                          A little bit of Heaven

                          4 of 5
Spent one week here. Wish it was more. Quiet neighborhood away from main roads but close enough to anything you might need. Celeste was a big help with pointing out places to go and things to do. Saw one of the best sunsets ever from the front yard over the pond. I never wanted to get in the car to go anywhere, but kids being what they are, can't sit still as long as us older folks! Make sure you don't rent it during my next vacation. I may just go back! Thank you Celeste .

                          Fantastic vacation stay

                          5 of 5
This is by far one of the loveliest places we have stayed on our travels. A quiet, beautiful lake setting, in a lovely cottage with all the amenities. We found the cottage easily and were able to get in with no fuss, and immediately we could sit down and relax on the full deck overlooking the lake. The cottage boasts a small "beachfront" going into "Hot Hole Pond", a clean and refreshing lake that is perfect for kids. The raft was a delight for my daughter, who pretty much spent the entire week out there, jumping into the water. The paddle boat and canoe was also a big hit for all of us, we spent a lot of time out on the water enjoying the lake's serenity. Kathleen called on the first day to ensure we arrived ok, and that everything was to our satisfaction - which it was. We enjoyed the coziness of the cottage, and a gorgeous master bedroom overlooking the lake. The yard was private and beautifully manicured, where we could enjoy peace and quiet in the hammock. We will definitely look into returning here! Loudon is close to Concord for all the groceries and shopping you need. We also enjoyed some of the host's recommendations for area activities. We loved staying here!

                          Everything I was hoping for!

Having not been to this lake in 20+ yrs I was thrilled to find this wonderful retreat! Now, I'm an adult and I came up with my wife and young son and I don't know who had more fun him or I. Janice is a gracious host and her cabin is so warm and welcoming, it feels like home almost. The true essence of a retreat: no wifi or tv (just a DVD player) leaving plenty of time for the paddle boat, grilling, jumping off the dock, swimming, tanning, and fishing (there are rods, life jackets, oars, floats, a blow up boat, snorkel+mask, lawn chairs for you just in case). I caught many bass and a pickerel off the dock just before sunsets. The 3 season porch is nice for relaxing with a book, watching sunrise/set, escaping from the grandkids (my parents+niece came up for a day and night and my dad escaped for an hour or two) or if you're lucky watching a thunder+lightening storm at night like we did (7/23). Son and wife fell asleep listening to the rain on the couch. Luckily for us, the weather cooperated the entire trip other than that night. It wasn't too hot or too cold and the water was perfect, just refreshing. Don't worry about the outdoor shower, it's completely private and covered and there's something to be said about showering "in the elements". All in all, one of the best vacations I've had in my adult life so far. Recommendations: have water shoes for everyone if you're going in the water from the shore. The mussels that are there are an invasive species and it's nothing to do with Janice, but if you're jumping off the dock you will be fine as the mussels aren't really out that deep and it's probably over your head (7+ feet). And it seems all kids have water shoes nowadays, they didn't exist when I was a kid! The mussels also make good free fish bait, but even though they're edible a quick google search doesn't recommend eating them. Bring up DVDs for everyone in case the weather doesn't cooperate, but there are are games and plenty of decks of cards and cribbage boards just in case. Don't worry about anything if you forgot something when packing, there's a Walmart, BJ's, target, cvs, ATMs, breakfast joints, hannaford's, ice cream shops, and Dunkin's all in driving distance from you and whatever else I didn't find! To conclude, just a beautiful place to unwind and recharge the batteries. You're not far from anything, but being the last place on the road and right on the water made it feel that way. Don't worry, you'll survive without the wifi and tv.
